Today is the release at your LCS of Secret War #4 : what did you think about it? Please let Bendis and Gab know! Was the wait (and the hardwork Gab did and and the extra time he spent on his pages) worth?

This issue was excellent imo. Really enjoyed Spider-Man and his quips towards Hobgoblin and the others, and the Fantastic Four showing up was very cool. Fight scenes were just beautiful to look at, and that mysterious lady was pretty freaky looking. Cannot wait to see how this ends. Great job guys.

The issue was beautiful. I must say that I truly enjoyed reading it and the wait was well worth it. However, the issue went by too quickly. This is no one's fault, but the speed at which this issue was finished makes the next issue's release seem a lifetime away. Great work Gab and thanks for producing such a great book! The Thing in particular looked amazing, especially since I hadn't seen your take on him yet. The action was crisp and Spider-Man was looking excellent as always.

There's something about the crisp, computerized lettering that is so at odds with the beautiful, painterly art that bothered the crap out of me for the whole issue. I suppose it's impractical to paint in the words, but there must be some way to have the speech blend in better with the rest of the page.

Seeing all of these characters together and painted was well worth the wait.

Incredible work Gabriele! Truly beautiful stuff, just amazing splash pages. Those fight scenes are superb. One of the best and most enjoyable books from an art stand point (and a story standpoint) that I've ever read. Your art put it over the top. Bravo!

Honestly, one of the most beautiful books I've had the pleasure of reading in the past couple of years. The paintings were breathtaking.

Beautiful stuff. And the Spider-Man pin up in the back is maybe my favorite piece of art I've seen yet.

I loved it, great storytelling, incredible painting.
My only con is that I think the way yhey print the book makes it too dark, your use of white doesn't pop like it should, and it's tough to see some of the details.
other then that, my fave book of the month.

The art was amazing of course.... and I really loved the pin-ups in the back those were all so cool. The Hulk one was awesome, Thor, Thing, they just fucking ROCK!!! YOU ROCK GAB!!

My only question is, who was that weird robot lady? Apparently she is the mastermind, but who the hell is she. I was expecting Dr. Doom.

I can see how someone thinks it's too dark. When the first issue came out I was so impressed with it that I gave it to a noncomic reading fan and one of the comments that they made was about how dark it was.

It fits the story though and since the last issue took place at 1 in the morning it makes sense. Also it helps make the lasers or whatever is coming out of these people's hands look really cool (I usually think they look silly)

It was Lucia, apparently while on the Secret War, Nick Fury and the heros went to Latveria, and did what they said they were gonna do, overthrow the government, but in the process they must have gotten to Lucia and messed her up pretty badly, probably on accident, and she was either driven insane, or was insane to begin with and just pushed over the edge, she got some cybornetic upgrades from the tinkerer and she's come back to reak revenge on Nick and the heros, who she blames for the whole thing...but thats just MY estimated guess

Not so much too dark. Its the printed pages that arent giving your work justice. The pages are painted so amazingly Id love to see them in person one day.

The Hulk one was awesome

I concur. I stared at that page for good 20 minutes. I usually don't do wallpapers for my desktop but I would put that there immediately if I knew where to find it online.

Yeah, just a bit. In some of the action scenes especially I thought the motion was dulled by the heavy blacks. I'm not sure if that's a by product of the glossy paper as well. there are times when I dislike the glossy look, especially on the painted work, as I feel it detracts from the clean lines, just as it does in photography. That may just be a personal preference on my part though.

Ah I see, thanks man. Was she in the Secret War books already, in 1-3? I don't remember her but its been like a year since #1 came out so she may have been in the story already and I just forgot her. I should go back and re-read it again.
