Umm . . . . yeah.
How long do you think Harrington's leash is going to be this season?

how so? the season hasnt even started yet. if harrington gets his shit together this year they could actually contend in there division. They also have Jeff Garcia and some good young recievers.

I know its pre-season, but jeziz, did you see tha game last night?
Harrington is just not the man. If he can't engineer a touch down with the three potential hall-of-famers he has now, it's time for Mooch to cut the cord and let Garcia take over.
Detroit doesn't need a great QB, and average one would do. Harrington has no confidence in himself and so the team has no confidence in him either.

The Packers might be worse than the Lie-Downs this year if the Defense keeps playing like a practice squad

I watched the game and Detroit looked slow on both sides of the ball.
And Steven Jackson immediately became my first round draft pick in Fantasy Football.

Steven Jackson is going to be an awsome awsome running back to replace the ageing Hall of Famer, Mr. Faulk.
We'll see if Martz's crazy claim of "my best defense ever" can hold up . . .

The only thing holding Jackson back is Martz's love of the pass.

I would agree. Orton sure looks like he can throw. Something I'm yet to see from Harrington, and have never seen from Garcia.
I don't care what the numbers say on Garcia in SF, the guy flat-out cannot throw a football.

Go Rams!
Give it to Torry, Bulger. He's on my fantasy team. GIVE IT TO TORRY!

Thank God they got rid of that ten year old carpet in the Dome as well. It's still not the best, but at leas the kids' knees will have another couple of years.
And I agree about Martz's love of the pass. There's no reason the Rams can't win this division . . .

Yeah, I'm sure he's going to make his share of rookie mistakes, but he looks to have a lot of potential.

If the Lions don't hang with Harrington for too long they might be able to make some noise, at least on offense. Garcia has battled injuries and been stuck on shit teams for the last couple of years. With the weapons around him in Detroit, he could have a comeback year if he gets some playing time.

I reiterate... Jeff Garcia is physically incapable of throwing a football. I think he may lack opposable thumbs.

I'm glad I moved an hour west so I don't have to hear as much about the Lions as when I lived in Detroit. I realize it's not just a local phenomenon, but hearing every year "this gon' be the one" gets incredibly tiresome.

It is amazing how every year people start talking about how "ggod" the Lions will be. By the third game, they are near suicidal.
I just assume the PUSSYcats will lose 10 or 12 and look forward to watching them come up with a new way to lose every week.

I never listen to TO. Ironically, he's just so much white noise.
Doesn't change the fact that Garcia can't throw. And trust me, as a Bears fan, I have the bottom of the barrel in QB's to compare him to.

there IS a difference/ The Cubs are usually good, but just can't make it over the hump. The Lions are almost always among the very worst of the NFL. The Detroit Lions are one of the worst franchises of any professional sport.

Sure, his relatively weak arm means he has some limitations but that's been the case with a lot of good quarterbacks. Doesn't mean he can't get the job done with the right supporting cast.

The new uniforms are nice.
The playing proved you can paint a turd yellow, but that don't make it gold.

Very true.
I look forward to seeing the new, incredible ways they come up with to lose games this year. They're going to have to work hard to top the botched extra point to send the game into overtime. How about...Lions are down by six with less than a minute to go. Starting at their own two yard line, Harrington puts together an incredibly efficient two-minute drill, moving the offense quickly down the field. With 4 seconds left on the clock and the Lions knocking on the door, Harringtion hits a wide open Charles Rogers on a slant. Rogers streaks toward the end zone, trips over the five yard line, falls, lands, breaks his collarbone (again) and fumbles into the end zone where's it recovered by the other team. Lions lose.

I've been a big Harrington fan since the Oregon days so I'd just like to point out that a year ago this time, people were giving Drew Brees crap too and we see what happened in his 4th season. And before the Monday night game, Joey had looked much better than Garcia.

As a part-time Niner fan, I was sorry to see Garcia go. Dude is a real fuckin' competitor.
