I don't know if the stance on this has changed, so I thought I'd ask :)

I would like to contact a couple of our esteemed professional creators on the board about availability/rates for a project I'm putting together.

HOWEVER I remember at one point there was a post that if you bug/pm/send smoke signals to the pros on the board, you'd get your taint sanded off, shoved into a moose, and then lit on fire as a warning to future offenders.

So is this the rule for possible paying gig inquiries as well, or was that just for generally being an annoyance?

I just don't want to be incinerated and have to wander around the afterlife smelling like burnt moose penis.

it never happened to me, but if you end to a lot of pros, it's better to ask...

Send them a PM and the hell with it. Even though you may be a small-press creator, it's still a creator-to-creator basis.

They're artists, they're hired to do work and that's what you're doing. I mean, it's obviously a ligitimate and professional work you're putting togehter and not some bull-shit, half-assed comic that you think rocks. And it's not like you're pestering them with useless gushing about how awesome Comic X is or what their favorite brand of toilet paper is.
