Hey, fucker, I like to think I know SOMETHING about college hoops. I have Vermont in the Sweet Sixteen. Taylor Coppenrath is a big matchup problem for a lot of schools, and I had some info that Billy Edelin wouldn't be making the trip for the Orange. :D
Bucknell surprised me, but I had Wisconsin beating Kansas in the second round anyhow. KU limped into the postseason.

In all fairness, I think most people have said all along that the three Big Ten schools left are legit top teams and have been for a while. The rest of the league is who needs to pick up the slack. The Big Ten is probably the most unbalanced major conference right now, its very top heavy.

I respectfully disagree, the Big Ten has three teams who would be strong in any conference, three or four teams in the middle who are average at best and four terrible teams at the bottom. Outside of that big three, no Big Ten squad would be competitive right now in the ACC, Big East or Big 12.

First of all the Big Ten needs to learn how to count as there are 11 teams in that crap conference.
BIG TEN STANDINGS
Illinois 15 1 34 1
Michigan State 13 3 24 6
Wisconsin 11 5 24 8

Penn State 1 15 7 23
I have absolutely no respect for this conference.
Of course I can't say much considering the SEC's performance as of late in the tournaments. It seems unless they play UK they don't come to play.
Michigan State is going to lose to Duke.
Wisconsin will lose to N.C. State.
and Illinois is playing UW-Milwaukee and have so far had a pretty easy trip to where they are playing Farleigh Dickinson and Nevada and will choke before it is all said and done. I don't think they could get past Arizona or Oklahoma State.
The Big 12 and The Big East are full of scrubs too!

I guess its a good thing that UNC isn't facing State since State has made the tarheels their bitch for the last several years.
Nothing worse than an ACC fan. Once, the ACC was the shit. Those days are over. The Big 10 (which used to have 10 teams until Penn State begged to get in) is every bit as goodthis as PROVEN by the fact that They sent and advanced the same fucking number of teams.
Duke is a good team, but they haven't looked like giant killers so far. They barly got past their teams. Duke is by no means a lock.

Um, Denny, are you retarded? The Big Ten originally had 10 teams, but was joined by Penn State in the mid-90s (big mistake) but since it was always known as the Big Ten, they decided not to change it.
Currently, the Big Ten is slightly down, but if you think it's a 'crap conference' you have NO sense of history at all.
Hell, Michigan St. won it all in 2000, Wisconsin had back to back Final Fours in 2000 and 2001, Indiana made it to the championship in 2002, Michigan was one of the most dominant teams of the early to mid 90s, Ohio State beat the #1, undefeated team in the nation.
The SEC is trash, with the exception of Kentucky.
EAST W L W L
Kentucky 14 2 27 5

Alabama and LSU were magnificant in the 1st round. And a 'scrub' Big East team wiped the floor with Florida. Hell, a 'super-scrub' Conference-USA team almost beat your precious Wildcats.

Again, there is no disputing the quality of Illinois, Michigan State and Wisconsin, but outside of those three the conference just isn't all that good. You have three boys who can run with anyone at anytime but the rest of the conference isn't pulling its weight.

First of all the Big Ten needs to learn how to count as there are 11 teams in that crap conference.
They know, Den-den. When Penn State joined, the only thing they did to note this was change the Big Ten emblem to have an 11 in it.
I have absolutely no respect for this conference.
Seemingly, you are not alone with this. Hence, the discussion. Funny how this conference and the ACC are tied with the same amount of teams left...
Michigan State is going to lose to Duke.
Not if Duke plays like they did yesterday. And this one is in Texas, not their back yard like the first two rounds.
Wisconsin will lose to N.C. State.
This is not a gimme for either team. They match up pretty well, so it should be close. Of course, Kansas should have beaten Bucknell...
Illinois is playing UW-Milwaukee and have so far had a pretty easy trip to where they are playing Farleigh Dickinson and Nevada and will choke before it is all said and done. I don't think they could get past Arizona or Oklahoma State.
Through the first two rounds, every #1 has had it pretty easy. That is the way the tournament is set up. That is also why each is still in the tourny. Hell, Duke came closest to losing yesterday.
Duke vs UK
UNC vs N.C. State
Louisville vs. Texas Tech
Illinois vs. Arizona
I guarantee that it won't go down this way. I won't speculate, but I'd say you'll miss at least two of those picks.

I would contribute to this pointless discussion about which conference is stronger, but... um... it's pointless.

Nope. I'm out of school. However, I have the distinction of having designed the t-shirts for the Orange Krush in '94. Was good to see my work on national television, surrounding The Chief.

The ACC rules - again.
The ACC's claim to be the nation's best basketball conference is based on a very simply foundation -- no other league has been as consistently successful in NCAA Tournament play.
Coming into this season, the ACC's all-time winning percentage of 67.3 percent is well ahead of the second-place Big East 63.1 percent. Since the NCAA allowed more than two teams per conference in the field in 1980, the ACC has had just one losing season in NCAA Tournament play (a 5-6 mark in 1987). Since the adoption of the modern 64-team field in 1985, the ACC has more titles (five), more Final Four teams (20, seven more than second-place Big Ten), more Elite Eight teams (31, seven more than the second-place Big Ten) and more Sweet 16 teams (56, 12 more than the SEC and Big East, tied for second).

oh. let me post the rest of the article for those that are clicking-impaired.
This year's tournament will do nothing to hurt the ACC's claim to superiority, despite Wake Forest's collapse in the second round and Georgia Tech's meltdown against Louisville.
Overall, the ACC is 8-2 with three teams in the Sweet 16.
The Big Ten is 6-2 with three teams in the Sweet 16.
The battle for superiority will resume Friday night when Duke takes on Michigan State and N.C. State meets Wisconsin. The Pac 10 is 4-2 with two Sweet 16 teams. The Big 12 and Big East are both 6-4 with two Sweet 16 teams. The SEC is 4-4 with one Sweet 16 team. Conference USA is 4-3 with one Sweet 16 team.
Now's when i sit down.

I agree fully that ACC is #1 conference, and has been for years (Big Ten is #2, fuck any of you who say otherwise) I was just commenting on how peculiar that an article from a guy from NORTH CAROLINA ON ACC BASKETBALL, FOUND ON A DUKE BASKETBALL WEBSITE is probably not the most trustworthy thing in the world.

Big 12 sent 6 I think. How many are left? 2. (GO TECH! :D )
ACC has 3 out of their 5, and is still the best conference right now.
But the Big 12 and Big East have NOTHING on the Big Ten. Our boys can ball with anyone, anytime, and it's been proven.

Purdue 3 13 7 21
Penn State 1 15 7 23

michigan state played a great game and deserved to win. my hat is off to them.
i was just pointing out the facts of the situation to some people who may be elated beyond reason right now by one or two nights of success. the acc remains the preeminent men's college basketball league. 'nuff said.
sad? yes... now i've got to wait 7+ months for the next season. (and i think next season is going to be a lot of fun... duke's gonna be reloaded and looking to dominate again.)
but duke still had an excellent season in a year hurt by defections and injuries. 20+ wins... third in an outstanding ACC conference... winning the ACC conference tournament, and making it to the sweet 16.
95% of the teams in the NCAA would pimp their mothers for a season like that.
it's all good.

reddick is definitely coming back. (he has emphatically said this at least twice)
shelden is probably coming back. (he needs a little more development. most scouts i've read place him in the second round... that's no good.)
paulus is almost certainly coming to duke. (he's not good enough to go NBA. it's a weak class for point guards. besides, PG's rarely go straight from high school anyhoo.)
mcRoberts might make the jump to the NBA and he would be missed.... but we'll be ok without him.
