You know, as I watch it now -- the first act is awesome. You don't know what the fuck is going on, you're just following the astronauts and it unfolds rather well. One thing happens after another. Pretty tight stretch for a godzilla movie.

It's damned good stuff. Back when Tim Burton was considering making the American Godzilla film he was planning on making a film similar to this one.

i guess a lot of monster and godzilla purists don't like it because it's the start of the monster mix with sci fi -- the incorporation of american sci fi into the godzilla movies -- but, as I said earlier, it's pretty tight. I havne't watched this one in a long time and it's definately one of the better writeen ones i've ever seen. There are holes, but it's still cool as shit. I remember digging the shit out of godzilla vs megalon (?), with that fucking robot and the kid.

Oh, and some hate the godzilla celebration dance, which I guess was a first here as well.
