View Full Version : Won't you be my neighbour?

I found out recently that David Finch lives like three blocks from me. Now I'm an aspiring comic creator who wants a little help getting a leg up. Is there a tactful way to approach him? You know I don't want to come across as some loser fanboy. Maybe he'll see this post (wishful thinking).

You've got to be a friend of Jonathan.....

Oh! Hehe, and that's not too bad a picture either.

No idea who Jonathan is... But thanks for the compliment on the pic. You don't know psyched that makes me. I've lived in town for like 8 months, and the people at Border City Comics told me you live in town and not only that but like three or four blocks away from me. I went to the signing you did there a few months back but the line was huge and I had to go to work.
I just want to say you're an amazing artist and a huge inspiration.
Thanks.

Nice work. Did you do the Superman cover too ;)

I'm kinda new here, but is there a section of this forum for fan art?

Just wondering if there is somewhere specific I could post some, maybe, um if we can.
Don't want to be too forward

Again nice work N. (don't want to give away your secret identity)

"You'll Never guess MY secret Identity" ;)

I actually used to watch that show

No no. My secret identity would split the space time conitum. Thanks. I don't think theres anywhere specific for fan art. I think you just start a new thread. You might want to do it in the Bendis board though. Little more traffic. No offense Mr. Finch.

Yay! More people from Windsor!

(Well, Tecumseh, I guess, but that's like Windsor Jr., only with less pollution.)

I'm loving Windsor. I didn't think I would before I moved. But its really a cool city.

Would be nice to know more people around town though.

Are you fishing for friends here? :P

That would be just sad and pathetic... er... um... why you busy later? Joking.
Nah I just haven't met anybody in Windsor that I can hang out with, except like 1 or 2 people from work. The owners of Border City Comics are really nice people, but they're like the only people I've met who have any remote interest in comics or stuff like that.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the only person I know in Windsor that's into comics is Macmanyosi. Oh, and Jonathan Rector. I figured you must know him because he's an artist, and he went to the college here. He lives right across the street from me, and I've been working with him a bit. I know he's got a bunch of artist friends from school...

I haven't seen I Heart Huckabees yet so I'm not sure what it references.
Sorry. But I'm sure thats very kind of you.

I'm not too up on my popular culture, so the only Huckleberry refrence I can think of is from Tombstone. Good movie.

Funny how a comment can be taken in the wrong direction. I haven't even seen that movie.

The reference was to Huck Finn. As in "I'll be the Huck to your Tom Sawyer."

Quackenbush
04-08-2005, 07:50 PM
Now I can't stop thinking of that episode of the Simpson: "I was sooo gay."

So If you're Huck and I'm Tom, does that make me Johnathon Taylor Thomas? Oops I think thats MArk Twain spinning in his grave.

Well if we're following the Simpson's vein...That would make me Nelson, and I have been know to throw out a HA HA! from time to time.

Seriously though, if you need any help doing a comic in the future, look me up.
