I was wondering what Alex and everyone else thought of about the Daredevil Movie.

Also, hopefully a sequel will be made, what would people like to see in it.
Which characters should return, or make an apperance, and which comic book story arcs would you like to see used?

I liked the movie- have not read the comic cause I am still starting out in being interested in them. I would like to see a sequel be made- Ben Affleck did a great job. This movie got me interested in watching Elektra-which was made out to be a bad movie but I actually liked it. I plan on buying it also.

I actually liked the movie. As for the sequel, I would like it to be more about Karen than Elektra, but that´s just me.

On my first viewing of Daredevil, I really enjoyed the movie, and in some respects I still do. Its just, with a character who could be written as being so diverse and complex the film was a let down. Although I love Elektra, and Jennifer Garner, the story focused a little to heavily on Elektra rather than Matt, which is weird for an opening chapter of a film series (I’m not sure if I get the purpose of the park-fight)
Bullseye was really cool, but - I can’t believe I’m going to say this but - maybe he should be a little more wordy, and psychotic.
Although I ‘went-to-bat’ for Michael Clark Duncan as the Kingpin the character was a let-down. MCD is a good actor and in the role, and final fight he looked formidable, but the Kingpin basically oozed this cheesy cliché. The image of him sticking a pose, pimp-cane in one hand, a giant cigar in his mouth.

“Look how evil I am, with my cold stare, awesome cane and larger than life cigar…..muahahaha”

It was a good film, but I wanted to it to be so much more. Daredevil to me sits in between Spider-man and Batman as a hero. Those two (recent) films were done astonishingly well, and the main reason is they focused on the story first and the evolution of the protagonist character. Hopefully they’ll learn from that in the next DD install instalment.

As for “Elektra” -- Jennifer Garner is a godsend and saved that film. It started of well but then it just began falling into strange regions. I mean they introduce 5 villains, who respectively seem like they would have deadly battles with Elektra, and they only have her face one guy (her short lived ’battle’ with ‘Stone’ - the big guy - is an encounter at best) The rest of the team die in embarrassing ways The film could have been so much better, and I personally feel that’s its failure in the box office will slow down the production of the second Daredevil film.

Well that was my, long and convoluted, opinion.

The theatrical release of DD is the movie that got me into comics. When I first saw it I thought "entertaining but I won't buy the DVD". I have no idea what changed but I think that I liked the idea of the character so much that I ended a big DD fan by the time the DVD was released. Once I had it I watched it every night for a week and enjoyed it every time!

I love the DC even more though because it puts the focus on Matt - and things suddenly actually make sense.

Haven't seen Elektra yet. But I am sure looking forward to DD2, should they actually make it. In the interviews cast and director made clear that they understood where the faults of this movie were and that gives me the hope that they'll do better for the second movie.

And yeah, I'd love to see a Born Again storyline. They did after all introduce Karen in the first movie! But then again... Jennifer Garner wants to be involved in the movie so not bloody likely. :( Unless she only shows up briefly. :)

If I were them I would think about the entire thing as another three part film series. After watching DD1, Directors Cut and all it didn't seem like it knew were it was going to go in the next installement. The thing I loved about the Spider-man film, apart from other things, was that they had a tantilising set of open ends that would go into the second film.
The guys who work on DD2 should be aware of this. Be smart build up your story, although I want to see Jennifer Garner (Elektra) again it may not be nexessary to do so, soo soon. If she appears as the main female lead in three-out-of-three of the DAredevil-verse films, its likely audience viewers may think she needs to be in every other installement.

Assuming nothing changes at the end of "Murdock's Papers" to nullify the 'outting' of Daredevil, then I feel the films should work towards that end.

Yeah, have the kingpin try to ruin his life (Born Again), then let us understand why he won't try that again (the enemy you know) and set things up for the outing in DD3 and the death of the Kingpin. Give Elektra a cameo in this one.

That would be my dream. :)

Loved it. Saw it twice in one week, once with this girl I was dating.

I liked the movie, and thought the director's cut was even better. It got me into the Daredevil character, which I had never even considered reading prior to the movie. I hope they do a sequel, and just adapt Born Again to fit. I'd like more Karen and no Elektra, but with Affleck and Garner together that's wishful thinking.

I just read Born Again, and if it were to be translated it needs to be cleverly done.
The premise is a good one, but to do it right, to give Daredevil the comeback he deserves. You can include any other heroes but Daredevil. The “Ultimate - American - Warrior” would need to be cut from the script too.

One of thing that worries me, the most, about Daredevil is his lack of truly great villains to battle.
The main wing in his Rouge Gallery is truly a spectacle; the Kingpin, Bullseye, Elektra.. but they’ve unfortunately been done.
For characters for the sequel, I think they main ones they should focus on should be: The Kingpin, Typhoid Mary and (the introduction of) Karen Page.
This film should set a new plateau for the Daredevil series, elevating it above all others. Even if people wanted Bullseye to return I doubt Colin Farrell would want to come back, not yet at least. If DD2 does well, then maybe that will lure him back, back from his fame, to Daredevil.

I liked the movie, but only because I don't judge a film based on its original content. It was NOT DD of the comic books. This doesn't mean that it was bad, just that it wasn't the same thing. I feel the same way w/ spider-man. I loved both of those films but they were way too angsty and not enough spidey-humor.

Personally, I feel that the DD movie, with the same cast (even though garner was a bad elektra) would have been much better if it was a closer adaptation to the comic. The first half of the film should have been DD: Man W/O Fear and the second half: DD 181. That film would have rocked.

It was alright, not great but not as bad as some people would lead you to believe. At least it didn't suck shit through a straw like Hulk did.

I personally thought the director's cut was much stronger, no cheesy Elektra love scene, Kingpoin was much more of a threat, and the throwdown at the end was much better.

I don´t think Hulk was that bad. Sure, they could have made a lot of things better (not changing his origin, for example), but I don´t think it was THAT bad.
