I had 12X12 but switched to 9X12 last month. Liked them both, no big difference.

I know you didn't ask me, but I also use the Wacom a lot. I just got a 6x8 Intuos3, which I can't recommend enough. I switched from a 4x5 Graphire, which was crap. Only thing is, I didn't need the extra size - the 4x5 was enough space, and I ended up setting up the new one for a smaller workspace size.

Look up the Wacom website if you're interested in one - they make it real clear which ones are best for your needs.

A while ago I picked up a brand new one from eBay for half the price. If you're low on cash it's well-worth it to check around.

What tablet are you using, Michelle? Have you tried out Painter IX yet? Hop on to the Corel website and download the trial version. It will blow your mind.

And to those that have the Intuos 3 - has anyone tried the new Expression Pen stylus they just came out with? I'm wondering if it's worth picking up.

Speaking of the stylus, which tips do you guys like to use? I tried the "stroke" nib, but found no difference between it and the regular nibs. I like the felt nib - the extra friction feels just right to me. But if I can get a better variance in stroke sizes using one of the others, let me know.

I'm using an Intuos I 6x8 right now and absolutely loving it, though I'm waiting for some more cash to upgrade. I do have Painter IX but haven't had time to play with it yet.

Hey Alex, can I have your old one?
I will put it to good use.
I will make you a sculpture for it!

I am using a 9x12 Wacom Intuos 2 and I'm loving it. Have never used another one though so I can't compare.

It was handed down to my dad, who has my old MAC and now the tablet.

I know a guy who works for the local university and he found an Intuos3 in his lab that apparently didn't belong to anyone. For the time being, it now belongs to me which is awesome, because Lark's right. The Graphire sucks.

Having worked for a couple of advertising agencies over the years, I've had the opportunity to use all sizes of the Wacom. I suppose the real factor to use when deciding which one to get is you've got to figure out how you draw. If you draw from the wrist, the smaller sizes are great. If you draw more from the elbow, the larger sizes are better for that. I picked the 6x8 for my studio and I love it. I could probably go a little larger since I use two monitors, but I've gotten quite used to it. But then again, I still prefer to draw everything by hand and I only do clean up and some coloring on the tablet. My tablet is fairly beat up from hauling it around all these years (cause I hate using a mouse, and I can't tollerate the track pad). I'm about due for an upgrade on that, and I may very well go up one size. I'm still undecided.
