In honour of Lark landing the Daredevil gig, I thought I'd start a thread to see just which artist people consider to be the one that sets the standers for everybody else.

Myself, personally, I really want to say Frank Miller, but, more and more each day, when I think of Daredevil, it's the Alex Maleev version that springs to mind.

Maleev's the top guy for me.

Not a big fan of Miller's art. I think he's a writer.
I look forward to Lark's stuff, but I don't expect it to take over as the definitive image. I feel I can pretty vividly imagine Lark's DD. I think it'll be solidly consistent, but not one that will stand out.

Romita Jr. is probably the only other guy that comes close.

Maybe Bagley.
If Lark just takes it upon himself to draw in the DD armor, then maybe he'll be remembered. :D

Some guy named Frank Miller.
Wally Wood is underrated.
Maleev brought something new.
Gene Colan...'Nuff Said

And a choice out of left field.McDaniel was pretty good.Ok not really definitive.I just wanted to mention his name.

Gene Colan...'Nuff SaidI don't like Gene Colan's art, but yeah, probably the only other guy that's a glaring DD icon that I can think of.

Oh and I forgot JRJR.

I liked McDaniel's DD, too. Glad to see this guy get the Robin gig.

Oh, I guess Mack and Quesada get a mention.
They're not what I'd call definitive, but they both left a pretty impressionable mark.

I kinda like what Quesada is doing on Father.

I couldn't tell you why, but I expect a shot similar to that from Lark.

I just realised too, my wallpaper right now is Tim Sale's DD.
Not definitive again, but another good one. I think it's getting pretty obvious that I'm leaning toward recent artists. :?

I haven't mentioned Gaydos...

Mazzucchelli.
Yeah, that's who I was thinking. His work is one of the things that made me love the character in the first place.

I would imagine my definitive artist is Alex Maleev because I was a part of this groundbreaking storyline by Bendis & Maleev.

Now I grew up reading those Frank Miller stories, but I was too young to really appreciate how amazing his run was and by the time I did years had passed you know.

I liked Joe Quesada's art a great deal as well as John Romita Jr and even Cary Nord.

And let's not forget David Mazzuchelli's Born Again story with Frank Miller.

I am really excited to see how Brubaker and Lark build on this character. I don't think DD has been consistently this good for this long.

Cary Nord is one of the forgotten greats to tackle that character.

Can't wait to see his DD but I still can't find the drinks and juggling bears.

Whenever I see DD in my head I see Joe Quesada's DD. I think his DD is so badass looking. I just really like the way he draws him. On the Smith/Mack run and even what he's doing now on DD:Father.

Miller did my favorite artistic version, followed very closely by Mazzucchelli and Quesada. I also really like Romita Jr.

No love for Lee Weeks here?

I'm not a really big fan of Maleev's art, but I do like Lark, who reminds me a lot of Mazzucchelli.
