View Full Version : Now that I've got my own board...

You probably won't be hearing much from me for the next week. Ah, the sweet irony.
I've got to draw - pencil and ink - 11 pages in the next week. Considering I've only pencilled/inked 1 or 2 full issues in less than 6 weeks, this is quite the challenge. But you will all be in my heart and thoughts. :)
Carry on. And I expect this thread to have been hijacked and turned into something completely different by the time I return.

Good luck with your brain surgery, Dr. Lark.

That was fast...:shock:I would've deduced this even quicker, but we only just got House down here, and I wanted to give it a few episodes before I made such an important judgment.

Chicago Hope was good, and has a great episode of television in 'Brain Salad Surgery', which is the episode in which Schutt has his little anurism thing, and the episode is done with song and dance.
House is nice.
It's nothing like Becker, and people who think it is can go suck a fuck.

i don't do medical dramas.
Mostly because my life is one big medical drama.
I may break the habit of a lifetime and catch an episode of House, though.
I might also buy Dougis Howser on DVD when I'm back in the states at Christmas.

ER totally started sucking after Dr. Green died! :roll:I tried to watch it for Maura Tierney, but I just couldn't take it...House is nice.
It's nothing like Becker, and people who think it is can go suck a fuck.I saw someone post something to that effect... which is just ridiculous. The whole metaphor of House is different, the characterization is different, the tone, everything...

The thing about House is it's not fundamentally a "medical drama" -- it's a character study against a backdrop of medical emergencies, all of which are used to explore House as a person.

I would be inclined to disagree, just because I think the scales aren't tilted quite as dramatically one way.
It's... hmmm... a peculiar one.
It's 50/50 as far as the hook goes, I suppose. The CG shots of the inner workings of whatever ails the patient are screaming attention to the gimmicky medical drama of the show - but at the same time, the sardonic tone is sold probably just as much.
I don't think the character is explored quite as much as the diseases, which is why I don't think the scales are that far in character's favour. It'd be hard to argue that the character study isn't there and present, though. :?

I can't stand those CG shots... they are utterly useless...

Congrats on the new board ML. :)
Exactly. Greene was the main reason I watched. I still can't listen to that version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" without tearing up.
The show went downhill after his death. Though the scene where Romano died was awesome.
