View Full Version : Crazy Cheap TV DVD Prices at Target (Gilmore Girls, The O.C., etc.)

For what it's worth, various Targets throughout the country have got some Warner and HBO Television DVD sets priced at $5.99 right now, either as some weird clearance or a price mistake. My Target had been stripped of many titles but still had Band of Brothers, Sex and the City, and Gilmore Girls (all seasons) sets at that price, and apparently The OC, MacGuyver, and Batman TAS are also ringing up 5.99 at other locations. They weren't labeled as on sale at my store so use those price-check scanners in the store to see which DVDs are ringing up this way.

Should I put my $5.99 Band of Brothers on my bookcase next to my $70 iPod from Stalples, if you know what I mean...?

I just called my sister and told her to go to the Target buy our house, she was enticed at cheap Sex and the City/Gilmore Girls, hopefully they've got something I don't already have that I'd be in for.

I was skeptical, too, but I made the trip anyway, and this one is real. Although apparently not every Target has these prices, a lot of Targets all over the US do.

What's funny is that Sex and the City and Gilmore Girls are two of the few tv shows my wife and I watch, and I was always impressed by Band of Brothers when it was on, too.

So, in short, if our Target has this going on, I'm stocking up!!

There are also apparently lots of other sets on sale, you just have to figure out which ones. Mostly Warner sets, but I recommend just scanning everything at those price-check machines at the end of aisles.

I'm in the Southeast, but this is a national thing. I found this at the dvdtalk forums.

Is this nationally? DAMN! I gotta get to Target tonight. I've found if you buy a DVD set, and return it for Merch. Credit at another store, you could TOTALLY get a bunch of DVDs. I did it when FYE had a crazy $14.99 sale on Simpsons DVD sets.

The nice thing about the Warner titles is that they have a rebate, and if you buy 5 sesons of Warners shows, you get $50 back by mail, effectively earning you $20.

Holy crap! Oh please don't let them find this out until 6:30 Eastern tonight! I can't get to a Target until after work!

Since it's on the East Coast, I'm hoping this applies for Philly-area Targets!

It's not happening here in Asheville, NC. I just tried it with random sets -- Sex and the City, Band of Brothers, Chappelle's Show, Angel -- and they all rang up regular price. The aisle scanners and the registers ring up the correct prices.

Ouch, store #2 was a strikeout, my sister walked in seeing shelves full of DVDs, so she checked, and they rang up full price. I wonder if she could have showed her reciept from store #1?? Onwards to the third store.

Someone tried that already, no dice.

Apparently, each store does their internal clearance separately, which seems to be a logistical nightmare.

At least I got a few of those $7.99 LOEG books...

Yeah, it happens unfortunately.

My wife wanted the new game "ANOTHER WONDERFUL LIFE" and it seems they made a printing error. As a result, everywhere was selling it for the same price WAVE RUNNER was (which in many cases was 0.01)

Unfortunately, most places visit the same sites and alert other stores. Or employees snatch them up.

The other day there was a Dell laptop (through Dell) that was 75% off or something insane.. it still came to $1000 or so, but it was a nice deal)

If anyone would, I'd love it if someone could try to pick me up:
Newsradio S.1+2
McGyver S. 1 & 2
Looney Tunes 2
Batman: TAS V. 3
The OC S. 1

I'd happily pay you back for them and the shipping. At that price, who wouldn't?

Told him I'd trade him those and letting me do laundry at his place for the Invader Zim figure I picked him up Friday.

I get home tonight and with any luck I'll have my pictures within... oh, a couple of weeks. :surrend:
