View Full Version : I had an interview today...

...but after thinking it was an hour drive instead of an hour and a half, the fact that we're currently in a flood warning, and me being still fairly sick led me to cancel about an hour and a quarter before I was supposed to be there. I tried to go, but the roads were shit and the best case scenario was that I would have been like 20 minutes late (assuming I had absolutely no trouble finding the school and that there was no traffic on the two main highways I had to travel).

Should I have gone and been late or did I make the right choice? The woman said it was no problem and we rescheduled for Wednesday. It's for a teacher internship program.

Oh well. I can only hope it doesn't hurt my chances at getting into the program.

I would say you did the responsible thing. Given the present circumstances, I'm sure they understand. Just make sure you get there 20 minutes early for the interview.

If someone told you that it was "no problem", than it was probably no problem--for them.
However, you might have gave others a good chance to make a better first impression if others are interviewing for the same job.

I'll try. I have a class till 12:50 on Wednesday and the interview's at 3, which gives me 2 hours and 10 minutes. If I get dressed up (shower, clothes, shave, etc) before my class, make sure my tank is full before Wednesday, then I should be able to leave by 1. Mapquest says it's an hour and 36 minute drive so if nothing goes wrong I should be there about 20 minutes early.

Knock on wood.

It's not for a job, it's for internship program through a school. Basically, I get my masters degree by being a teacher's/administrator's assistant for 10 months.

So there's not one position, there are several. Like, I don't know, 50. It's a pretty popular program because it's tuition paid, but I'm very qualified for the position.

We'll see. I just feel bad that I had to do it, especially since my girlfriend helped me get all ready for this interview only for me to come back 25 minutes later.

Rescheduling an hour an change before the meeting isn't good, but it's better than being half an hour late.

Yeah, I know.

What sucks is that I called this morning to reschedule because I felt like shit, but no one picked up. So I decided to suck it up and go through with the meeting.

If someone had picked up then, this wouldn't have been an issue.

Ahhhh. Then no problem.
