View Full Version : Former WWE Wrestlers, Where Do They Go? Why Japan!!!

wh park

So in case some of the wrestling fans on this board were wondering whatever happened to people like Johnny Stamboli, Jamal, Taka Michinoku and Albert... wonder no more.

Many of the cut WWE wrestlers go to Japan and most of them join ALL JAPAN PRO WRESTLING (though Jamie Noble went to New Japan and wrestles under his real name of James Gibson).

Most of the ex-WWE guys form two heel gaijin (foreigner) factions, RO&D (which stands for ROUGHLY OBSESS & DESTROY) and THE VOODOO MURDERS.

These guys are currently feuding with each other as well as with the regular All Japan roster.

Here are some pics:

Well Jamal had that whole threatening to kill an off-duty police officer incident which I think made Vince and Jim Ross a little peeved. Mind you it's probably for the best as he's a huge star for All Japan now.

And paydays in Japan are ok but nothing like the glory days of the 80s and 90s. I'm not exactly sure what gaijins get paid but depending on how big of a star you were before sets your value in Japan.

He still flys alot.

His new finisher is a variation of the crossface though.

He like holds three different titles, forming his own Jr. Triple Crown (Michinoku Pro's Tohku title (not sure of the spelling), AJPW's Jr. Belt and his own K-Dojo title).

Got a whole bunch of VHS and just now getting DVDs of Puro.

Did a huge order of DVDs, primarily All Japan stuff including Satoshi Kojima winning the TC from Toshiaki Kawada as well as him winning the IWGP title from Hiroyoshi Tenzan.

But if you want a really solid card get NOAH's Tokyo Dome show which has the MOTY, KENTA KOBASHI vs. JUN AKIYAMA.

Money Shot is when Taka goes to the top ropes and jumps off into the air cross body block style. He does this while the opponent is lying on the floor, but sometimes he even does it when they're standing... or at least he did when he was in WWE.

Liger and Bret Hart are the reasons why i started watching wrestling

wh park
03-28-2005, 10:10 AM
You know the great thing about Liger is that he was a pioneer of the modern high-flying style (one of the first guys to combine Mexican and Japanese wrestling and invented the Shooting Star Press) but after he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and his body started feeling the affects of that style he toned it down.

The thing was that he was such a phenomenal worker in terms of his matwork, submissions and psychology that it didn't matter that he took to the air a little less than before.

A great booker that helped make Shinjiro Otani, Koji Kanemoto, Great Sasuke, Ultimo Dragon, Chris Benoit into stars in Japan.
