Who was the second woman who wore the black costume with white logo that called herself Spider-Woman? Where was Jessica Drew when the 2nd one was around the Avengers?

I'm sure someone will be able to fill this in with much more detail....

Julia Carpenter was the 2nd Spider-Woman. She first appeared in Secret Wars. She could stick to walls and project an energy or psionic web. She did the occasional appearence here and there until She Joined the West Coast Avengers & later, Force Works. She ended up losing her powers, or getting crippled in the last Spider-Woman series.

During all of this, Jessica Drew was basically de-powered, although she could stick to walls. She was a supporting character in the Wolverine Series when it first launched & far as I can remember, was comic in limbo, until the 3rd Spider-woman series came around. She was like a mentor to the Maddie Franklin Spider-woman

So she spent years in limbo? I didn't know they used her in the Spider-Woman series set in the future. That book any good?

It's not set in the future. The series mentioned above was by John Byrne and Bart Sears and lasted 18 issues. It spun out of the awful Gathering of the Five storyline that lead to the equaly awful reboot of the Spider-Man titles in the late 90's.

The series set in the future is Spider-Girl, and is about Peter and Mary Jane's daughter, May. It's actually set in present day, but the events of the regular Marvel Universe happened 15 or 16 years in its past, so Peter is in his late 40's or early 50's.

Sorry to confuse you.... No, the one set in the future is Spider-Girl. About five or six years ago, there was a new Spider-Woman series right around the time of the Amazing Spider-man relaunch, with a new & younger Spider-woman. That version of Spider-woman (along with Jessica Drew) both appeared in an Alias storyline.

The question is...would Venom look like he does if it weren't for Spider-woman 2's costume design sense?

Y'know, I never really thought abot that before. But you're right, he probably wouldn't. He probably would have ended up looking more like Carnage or that Spider-Cide guy...yeesh.

Spider Woman 2 was also a member of Freedom Force, alongside Mystique and the "reformed" Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
