Pretty good stuff. I like his direct, no obfuscation, way of presenting his understanding of this stuff, and we finally get to learn about how he got to the White Room that Dave Sim mentioned in issue 180-something of Cerebus.

For those of us who didn't read Cerebus, can you give us a little taste of the White Room?

The White Room was an early magical experience that Moore had. Sim, in his description of it, said something like "I'm not going to discuss the methods by which Alan got there, because he's a genius and has obviously given this stuff a lot of thought, and I don't want to encourage anyone to half-heartedly emulate him and wind up hurting themselves." But basically the White Room was a place that Moore arrived at that was populated by a bunch of older magicians like Aleister Crowley, John Dee, and Austin Osman Spare. He said something to Sim about the fact that it was all guys, and that he suspected that there was a separate room for women somewhere rather than magic just being a "faggy boys' club." And Dave said something like, "I don't think so, Alan."

I'm pretty sure the Women's room was called The Void of Whores. But that's what I think Sims intended to call it.

Moore in brief on why he likes the idea of a God as a ventriloquist's dummy:

Pfft, Alan Moore is an overrated warlock, Grant Morrison can summon the hoary hosts of hoggoth in less time than it takes Alan to summon Glycon.

Moore takes some indirect shots about Morrison's approach to magic in this lecture, summing it up as, basically, "Hey God, can you spare a fiver?"

That's even more hilarious, I mean Morrison has been doing his Magic Shtick longer than Moore has. There needs to be a wizard duel between the two. Steve Ditko style!

I like Morrison, but Moore's beard would devour his soul.

For anyone who doubts or ridicules Alan Moore for this stuff, how else do you explain his success? Being in the right place at the right time with the right effort is the most powerful spell ever.
