why is carpenter starting?

He's had a brilliant push, he has something like a 0.80 ERA in his last 10 starts. Tied with the most wins in the NL, he hasn't given up a stolen base in a couple of years and that's a concern with Piazza catching. Plus the other two "main pitchers" have issue. You should know about the Clemons/Piazza, thing and Willis has such a bizzarre style that LoDuca will catch him.

All of those together is why Carpenter got the nod.

Had LoDuca been selected as the starter, he probably would have been.

They have the same record and it helps to have LaRussa as the manager. ;-)

Leave it to the Brave, to get bitch slapped by a member of the team that used to be in St. Louis.

Rolen would have had that. :blah:

1 inning from Carp is fine by me. Now get Clemens in there and have him throw 120 pitches.

Well, maybe we can see if there are any more Cards available to pitch, they seem to be the only ones that can keep the AL off the board...

Like it was going to be a surprise. Its still fun, but it'd be nice if the NL could be competetive at all.

The problem is, back in the day, the NL used to be known for its pitching dominance, while the AL was known for its power. Now the AL is becoming dominant in both.

Not really, had the fans picked correctly. I could put together an NL team to kick the shit out of the AL, of course there would be zero Cubs which raises your chances about 175%.
