As usual, I am woefully behind on my Marvel TPBs and hardcovers, which means I just got around to reading the second volume of Brian and JR Jr's thus far fantastic run on The Avengers. I am now jonesing to read volume 3, but it seems to not exist, even in solicitation form. Did I just miss the solit somehow? Is this some attempt by Marvel to drive up single issue sales? It appears collections of both New Avengers and Avengers have ceased to be past volume 2 for the time being, which confuses me.

What is even more annoying is that rather than do proper OHCs, they're doing the same with those.
The next Bendis Avengers OHC will collect both series as well. I believe it's the first arc of each book. Kind of stupid and nonsensical. What if you don't want both books?
I would rather have New Avengers, vol. 1 OHC with #1-12 or whatever, then Avengers, vol. 1 OHC with the first two arcs of that.

It also has AVENGERS PRIME #1-5. I think that's more likely just an easy starter kit for moviegoers looking to get into the current events of the Avengers books, especially given the movie cover it was solicited with.

An event so bad it managed to fuck up counting.

Were the tie-in issues to Fear Itself good, or were they pulled into the vortex of suck that was the main series? Despite my disdain for the main series, I greatly enjoyed the Invincible Iron Man, Alpha Flight, and Journey Into Mystery tie-ins, so I'm hoping the Avengers are the same way.

I enjoyed the New Avengers ones a lot more. I don't quite remember the Avengers ones, that could be an indication of their quality. I don't know.

I enjoyed the New Avengers ones a lot more. I don't quite remember the Avengers ones, that could be an indication of their quality. I don't know.
I remember my LCS owner, who is a huge Bachalo fan, lamenting that the page layouts were akin to a school yearbook. But that's all I really heard about the Avengers tie-ins in particular, and that was just one issue.

No. You're not. Marvel makes it difficult to keep track of their trades, at least in my opinion.

Sometimes. But they have been far better than DC in that regard.
Hellblazer really sticks out in my mind as a major issue with DC's collections department.
How do you have such a longrunning book, that many people buy in trade, but you don't number the books and don't list issue numbers on the back or anything?
It's so annoying having to open to the first page or whatever to see what issues are collected everytime. How difficult is it to number the trades?

I thought they were very good - some of the strongest (and most specifically Bendis-like) Avengers work Bendis has done.
