See that is the American consumer mentality running things for you. You are spending money. You are not saving it.

Okay, I'll rephrase. I'm a sucker for buying things I was already going to buy, at a largely discounted price, thus giving me extra money to use on other things.

Better?

The only things that have piqued my interest:

Blurays

- Pulp Fiction for $3.99
- X-men First Class for $9.99
- LotR Extended for $49.99
- Amazon has Seven Samurai listed as a deal for Cyber Monday in the morning. No price yet.

I highly highly doubt it but if I saw the 360 Holiday Bundle for $199 with no effort I'd really think hard about picking it up. I'd probably pick up a 3DS Mario bundle if it wasn't red. I like the Zelda 3DS but I have no desire to play Ocarina yet again.

I'll be playing Skyrim and seeing Four Year Strong with The Swellers that day. I really have no interest in dealing with people under those kinds of circumstances.

Christmas is fast approaching so shoppers will definitely grab the best sales ever! Moreover,I believe everyone is so excited for Black Friday!:D After reading this article:Black Friday is also the biggest car shopping day of the year (http://www.cardealexpert.com/news-information/saving-money/black-friday-car-shopping/), my mind crossed a bit. Perhaps this time I plan to abandon the crowds and lines to get a purchase on a new laptop or tablet computer. I believe it's a sweet deal on some new wheels for my family. Well, Black Friday still might be the answer to our hopes.Looking forward to fill my wish list!;-)

Amazon is screwing up my annual Black Friday week Psych purchase. They are still doing the usual Psych deal one of the days but only have Season 1 - 4! I need Season 5 damnit! You're ruining my tradition!

I'm glad I held off on getting the HP DH Part 2 Blu Ray. I noticed that is going to be a deal one day.

I am definitely getting the Seven Samurai deal.

If the price isn't right, Barnes & Noble does a 50% off Criterion a couple times a year. I think I paid like $15 for the Seven Samurai blu ray a little earlier this year.

I am staying the fuck home.

I never understood the whole 'black friday' thing. Maybe I'm just not enough of a consumer.

This year, I am heading to Provincetown for Thanksgiving. There are no malls, or big box stores there. Most of the stores are closed for the season.

I will enjoy quiet, solitude, and quality time with my husband--

--and we will watch the news saturday morning to see how many people got trampled/killed/suffered a heart attack on this joyous day known as 'black friday'.

Happy Thanksgiving all.

Amazon Gold Box Deal of the day tomorrow is the Lion King 8 disc Blu Ray set. I want that and am hoping they have a sweet deal on it. Today I did pick up Modern Family S1-2 on blu ray for $36 off of there.

Curious if they have Psych Season 1-4 all for $7.99 on Thursday and what the prices on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia S1-6 will be. I'm presuming Mad Men Season 4 will be around $8.99 as its advertised on one of the other outlets. Uber psyched for that. Picked up Season 1-3 last year on blu ray for $10 a piece and now I can get the 4th for around that. Literally 4 for the price of 1!!!!

I just snagged my big bang theory season four for 8.99 on Amazon, Green lantern blu ray for 9.99 (its barely worth that), and X-Men Destiny on Best Buy.com because i'm a sucker for X-Men games. I was able to totally cross Best Buy off my stop list for tomorrow.

I'm really only going to Target for the discounted iTunes Cards tonight. I'm gonna grab Cars 2 Blu Ray tomorrow on Amazon too. With the Prime Trial i'm not paying any shipping either.

I wish someone would have Fringe Season 3 Blu-Ray and Glee Season 2 so I could be practically finished.

The earlier the better- for some of the deals you have to get a voucher (that has been my experience) so it's better to be near the front of the line. I'd say 9-10 also.

US Black Friday marred by shootings, pepper-sprayings

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15879139

The US holiday shopping season is off to a nasty start with several shootings and two pepper-sprayings as bargain-hunters stampeded stores.

The one that caught my attention was this one:

A woman was shot in the foot by a robber as she loaded her purchases into her car in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; the gunman fled as one of the victim's companions brandished a revolver and fired warning shots

Not only did the robber have a gun but at least one of the victums was also carrying a gun for a shopping trip. Wow.

Good for them, they probably would have had the stuff stolen on top of the gunshot wound had they not been armed themselves. I am glad they did not have to go home with Christmas ruined.

Did you get your TV Jason?

I was disappointed this morning as my JC Penney was out of the Mickey Snowglobe (i get one every year so now I have to search Ebay for it) and my Kmart didn't have the electric fireplace I wanted so I settled for the 32" doorbuster one instead.

I've cleaned up with the online sales but instore deals have been a bust for me outside of last night at Wal-mart but that was only for Pillows lol.

No, I did not get my TV. I got there at 8, and realized that I did not have a real grasp on how hard core of a consumer I needed to be in order to obtain this. There was a tent city. I can't play on that level. Camping for a week to buy a TV is something I am not prepared to do. Waiting in line for 4 hours was almost more than I was prepared to do.

You should have brought a gun.

Yeah Tent City is a bit hardcore. Sometimes one has to weigh out the sale price and if its worth it. If it makes you feel any better...a few years ago I waited in line with my ex for a TV deal and the TV died a little over a year later. Maybe got a year and a half out of it.

In order to clear the crowds Bartleby? That is crazy talk. If that is your attitude on using a gun, I hope you never carry one with you. You need to respect what it can do Bart, and use it primarily for self defense, not because you want to get a good deal. You know, I really expected better of you on this one.

I just stopped by my comic shop. They had a lot of tpbs and hardcovers very cheap. I got The Boys Definitive Edition for $10 (down from $75), Total Sell Out (Image version) for $3, The Goon Vol. 9 for $3 and more stuff that is slipping my mind at the moment.

At some point I think you have to concede it's better to pay a little more and take advantage of Cyber Monday sales and whatnot than to go into the mess. Sure, you may not get that, I dunno, Panasonic 46" for only $350, but hell, twice this week I could have had a Sharp Aquios 60" set for $800 with a couple quick mouse clicks on Best Buy.

2 friends and I camped out in front of GameStop for the Zelda 3DS bundles... There were only 4 and we took 3 of them... there were some pissed off people when we walked out.

After a crazy night dealing with crazy people while shopping, I ended staying up until 2:30AM in order to get one of the $199 PS3 bundles from Amazon when they were officially released.

I realize now how much anguish I could have spared myself ...

Other than a failure to get the Gossip Girl Season 4 Lightning Deal (it never switched to the advertised price and they sold their supply in less than a minute for a higher price than advertised.) I was very successful in my shopping this year and the crowds weren't all that bad. The Amazon thing irks me a bit. It was totally deceptive.

How much you want to spend?

If it's under $1000, these are CNET's recommendations:

If it's over $1000, I just purchased CNET's "best tv" of the year, the Samsung PN51D7000 for $1,299, which is $500 less than the usual sale price I see and about a $1000 less than its original MSRP.

Picked up the BEN-HUR 50th anniversary ultimate collector's box set at Best Buy for $10.99. Pretty sure it's a price error since it's regularly $74.99, but I'll take it.

I didn't get much today. I just went to the used CD store. But I was browsing their books section and for the Oxford Press edition of the Selected Poems of Lord Byron, and "Myth and Middle Earth".

For myself I picked up Xmen first class blu ray, Inception blu ray, Arkham City, and a new microwave. Grabbed Bridesmaids dvd, Modern Family S2 dvd, and an HP desktop for some friends. Everything was pretty easy this year, stood in line for an hour at Staples for the computer, but it went smooth.

i want to spend under $400. i want a 40", 1080p, ideally with a 120hz refresh rate, but i'd settle for 60hz. i'm not looking for a great television, but something good for such a discounted price.

I am going to push my luck with one of those Kindles from Target tomorrow. I don't need one, nor do I really have a use for it, but it is so tempting that I might just get it if they have it.

Getting a kindle for class reading is the best decision ever. You can check back on your own highlights so quickly, and it's so convenient.

We decided to make our waiting destination Target this year. We got into line at about 9:45 for their midnight opening. We wound up being about 60th or so in line.

The 46" TV we were going after was gone by the time we made it inside, but we got a 40" for $250, which is a good upgrade for us. Hooked it up earlier and digging it.

We grabbed 9" DVD players that strap to headrests in the car for $99, and a wireless printer for $40 among other things. Scored a lot of our kid's Christmas presents too. Oh, and fortunately Best Buy had Harry Potter 7.2 and X-Men First Class Blu-rays for $10 still when we went back.

It was a good night. And day.
