They could have given the profits to the 9/11 first responders. I pulled out my copy yesterday, and, while incredibly depressing, it's just such an absolutely beautiful labor of love by everyone involved. It's just as beautiful and touching as it was 10 years ago. It was so nice to see so many titans of the industry coming together to put out something like this for charity.
I still remember showing my Dad Mike Deodato's image of Captain America crying.
Dad: Where were you that day, Superman?
Me: That's Captain America.
Dad: Whatever.

I was thinking about that comic yesterday, and you're right, a 10th anniversary re-release would have been a good idea. Oh well.

Yeah. I loved that issue.
Remember all the people who bitched and moaned about the villains who were crying at the site of Ground Zero? Those people completely missed the point of that issue. In that moment, we were all unified as people. It was never meant to be a canon issue.

I was LITERALLY just thinking that, yesterday.

Yesterday you could get the DC 9/11 book on Comixology for free. Don't know if you can still do so today or not. ASM 36 was also free there.
