Probably one of the more out there concepts coming to the new relaunch

Paul Cornell describes the book as such: Swords and sorcery and super heroes. The Magnificent Seven in Dragon Age. Some previous sword and sorcery books always seemed a bit grey and brown to me. This one’s got a team of huge characters in a proper, mapped out, fantasy setting, with a certain grim Game Of Thrones edge to it.

The solicit: In the dark ages of the DC Universe, a barbarian horde is massing to crush civilization. It’s fallen to Madame Xanadu and Jason Blood, the man with a monster inside him, to stand in their way – though the demon Etrigan has no interest in protecting anyone or anything other than himself! It’ll take more than their own power to stop an army fueled by bloodlust and dark sorcery, and some very surprising heroes – and villains – will have no choice but to join the fray!

This is easily the oddest concept in the new 52, and one of the books I'm most excited for. Cornell is the perfect choice for this.

I might try this one out.

But it doesn't look like a long lasting candidate unfortunately.

Looking forward to this one.

Looking forward to all of Cornell's output, actually.

Him, Morrison, Snyder, Lemire. Boom!

This is the book I am most interested in of the 52.

Early buzz for retailers is high. I think (could be misremembering) that Rich had a break down that put preorders for #1 at around 85k or so (good for top 15) so many the promotions from DC and Cornell are working?

58k, actually.

Which would still be really good for this market and this kind of book.

Looks like I was way off on that but hell, Hawk and Dove sold out and it was at the bottom of this speculation list so who knows?

I think that list is way, way off. It has All-Star Western beating Justice League International. But hopefully this will attract a fantasy audience that may not normally read DC books. :)

Yeah. In July, 58 k was good for 11th place on the top 100

I'm hoping the Dark books get strong word of mouth leading to very good trade sales (treating them essentially like Vertigo books).
