:o What a great story

If you’re looking for a true love story, look no further than 610 and San Felipe in Houston.

You see, Lewis Krantz was trying to come up with a way to let his bride of 50 years know how much he cared, but your average anniversary card just wouldn’t do.

So Krantz bought a billboard at 610 and San Felipe.

The sign, with a wedding photo of Krantz and his wife reads: "50 years and still counting. July 2, 1961 … You’re Still The One."

And Krantz didn’t stop there. He arranged for a police officer to pull him and his wife over near the billboard for its big debut.

So on June 27, the day the billboard went up, Krantz and his wife, Sharon, went for a ride.

The officer flagged them down, as if Krantz was speeding, and asked Krantz for his driver’s license. Then, he presented Sharon with a ticket.

"You, Sharon Krantz, are being issued this citation on this 27 day of June 2011 in Houston, Tx for marriage in excess of 49 years."

The ticket directed Sharon to remain facing north and to "stand by for a special event."

At that point, Lewis Krantz said a group of friends and family members came out of hiding and looked on as he proposed another 50 years of marriage.

After handing his bride three dozen roses, he had her turn around, and she saw the sign.

Well played, sir. Well played, indeed.

Khou.com would like to wish Mr. and Mrs. Krantz a very happy 50th anniversary this weekend, and to everyone else -- happy Fourth of July!
