Ed Brubaker praised this in one of the Wordballoon eps a couple of years ago and boy was he right.

It's a French tv series about a group of police officers, prosecutors and lawyers policing various crimes in Paris.

It's incredibly well written and produced, the cast is fantastic and each season has a self-contained story.

It might not go as deep into social and political issues as The Wire did but it is nevertheless just as uncompromising and entertaining as The Wire.

It's in French but the English subtitles are great. One word of warning : If you're sensitive to gore or mutilation then you might want to skip this or at least those parts of it. There are a lot of bodies found in horrifying circumstances and the show does not hold back on showing all of that. It can be quite disturbing at times.

Otherwise, check it out, it's one of the best crime series I've seen. There are three seasons out so far.

Oh, and if you need anything else to convince you, there's a gorgeous redhead in the main cast. And for the ladies, a ridiculously handsome man as well.

If there is one thing I learned from Three Colours: Bleu, it is that all female lawyers in France are hot.

Agreed. But watching this show has made me realise there's apparently not much bathing going on in France. Even regular people - from the middle class or richer - from their hair it looks like they haven't bathed in weeks.

When is your flight?

Not for a few days but I've already prepared by not showering since April.

Apparently starring French Clive Owen, French Rob Lowe and the French love-child of Richard Belzer and Sam Waterson.

Amazon only has region 2 discs. Where can us American types go to watch this?

Huh. Apparently it's not available in Region 1 DVD.

So I guess you would have to have a region free dvd player or procure it in some other manner.
