Totally an influence on this lowly Alto sax player. Rest in Power, Clarence.

I hope his sax is now soothing the ghost of Tom Joad

Even though I had read the other day he wasn't doing well this comes as a small shock. I had been hoping he would pull out okay. He was a talented musician and his legacy will resonate whenever one mentions Bruce Springsteen.
RIP Clarence

He was the soul of that band, especially pre-Born in the USA.
About 18 months ago, I heard the band do the entire Born to Run album and his solo on Jungleland was nothing short of perfection.

Wow. Maybe I got bad info but I was under the impression that he was recovering. Sad news.

Awww...so sad to hear this. My sister teases me, saying that I dance like Clarence Clemens. Now that joke just won't be funny anymore. :(
