He recorded the FIRST version IN the parking lot.

Let that sink in.

He left the theater and said "I GOTTA GET THIS SHT DOWN ON TAPE RIGHT NOW".

Spent half the day typing out his thoughts.

HALF. THE. DAY.

On a movie he didn't like.

If I'm going to spend half the day doing something I don't like I better get paid or laid at the end of it.

(But let's be real, at best I'm probably looking at a begrudging handy because listen a guy can get really sick if it gets hard like this and you don't do something about it.)

Wolverine rant = longer than Wolverine's appearance in the film.

Also, he refers to Emma Frost as the "white blonde bombshell"... if this thing takes a racial turn it's going to be awesome.

Buk Was Right

Whoa... when he reaches up to choke himself... THAT movement is done from a LOT of experience.

Also he seems to remember the "tied up and choked by the brass bed" scene REALLY vividly. I assume because he yanks it while thinking about.

So y'know, we have that in common. Maybe this guy wants to hang out sometime.

I don't know, just not this.

Buk Was Right
06-16-2011, 10:14 PM
So the crux of his argument is that the character wasn't created/introduced until 2001 (I'm unclear if he's talking about COMIC BOOK time or REAL time, I suspect he thinks that they're the same thing) so she CAN'T be in a movie that's set in 1960. Also, in the comic she doesn't have tattoos.

And yet... AND YET the fact that this particular movie story doesn't exist in the comics in ANY way doesn't faze him.

I want to talk to this guy. I want to be able to ask him questions.

Then I want to murder suicide myself. Not kill him. Just murder AND suicide myself.

Darwin. Same problem.

Personally I thought that his shirt was weirdly too small. That was MY problem with Darwin.

Of COURSE Darwin was in the movie just to die:

1. It's a sci-fi/comics/genre flick
2. He's a black guy

His explanation of Nightcrawler's geneology is flat busted.

"He got the blue skin from Mystique and the teleporting from Azreal (am I spelling that right? I feel like there's an "H" in there somewhere)"

I'M NOT SURE THAT'S EXACTLY HOW MUTANT POWERS WORK!

They're not passed down one to one to your kids. Yes, there are SOME (Magneto/Polaris for instance, but I haven't read X-Men in like FORever so I don't even know if they're still father/daughter), but that's not like the RULE.

Guys, Luke Skywalker is his favorite Jedi.

Fantastic!

I didn't understand why he was listing off all of his BluRay titles, but somehow "accidentally" skipped over the Hannah Montana movie that was right there on top of the stack!

Also, he has all of these problems with how X-Men: First Class didn't match up with the characters / origins / storylines in the comics, but his graphic novel shelf is filled with Ultimate X-Men and the other Ultimate line books. It's ok to do things differently as long as you're doing it in comic book form?!?

I really just need to understand how he understands things. Or maybe I just need to never watch his videos again...I can't decide.

Opening argument - "this is a prequel..."

Next argument - "Why was Wolverine in this movie?!"

Buk is a damn comic genius.

He seems to think it's impossible that Wolverine took a quick break during his military days to go have a drink at a bar on his own.

So....no, I wouldn't recommend trying to understand how he understands things.

I was just about to post something about that. I went back and watched the original review from the end of the video and I'm very impressed that none of his "friends" was able to explain to him between the first vid and the updated & extended review that just because you're on a team with other folks doesn't mean you have to be around them 24/7. I'm fairly sure it's possible that Wolverine was able to sneak away at some point during the years on that team to have a drink. This doesn't seem to destroy continuity for me...but I'm not Quickfreeze4 so what do I know?

Not only that, but his argument doesn't work in the first place because Wolverine and Sabretooth weren't even on Team X yet in the movie universe. X-Men: First Class takes place in 1962. At that point, Wolverine and Sabretooth hadn't even gone off to fight in Vietnam yet, so Team X was still a long way off.

You'd think that a guy with as many things to nitpick about as this one would at least have the details right so he knows what the hell he's talking about.

How does he not understand the Wolverine cameo??? People in the military only go to bars with their army buddies? WHAT?

Yeah, that's actually his argument. He's saying that guys like Sabretooth, Wade Wilson, and Blob should've been there too.

But again, Wolverine and Sabretooth hadn't even gone off to 'Nam yet in 1962. Team X was still years away. And even if it wasn't, does he think that Wolverine was attached to the hip with everyone else? Drinking on his own was impossible?

Spent half the day typing out his thoughts.

HALF. THE. DAY.

On a movie he didn't like.

If I'm going to spend half the day doing something I don't like I better get paid or laid at the end of it.

(But let's be real, at best I'm probably looking at a begrudging handy because listen a guy can get really sick if it gets hard like this and you don't do something about it.)

That has been upgraded to potentially fatal. Medicine has evolved.

Yeah, that's kind of where I ended up. I do run into these guys at my shop, and right there in the moment when you're trying to escape their conversation, they're a colossal pain in the ass, but they've got genuine issues to deal with. I sometimes wonder, when someone with social skills that poor becomes the laughing stock of the internet, how much worse do things get? Or is there any chance it shocks him or someone else into getting the dude some therapy?

I'm only a few minutes in. And I'm dying laughing that this guy takes issue with this film because Wolverine was in a bar and not in the military with Sabretooth. Because people in the military never go to bars. Especially when they're friends with Sabes. HUGE continuity issue, people. Heh.

And Emma Frost left with Magneto...so it's unforgiveable that she wasn't in X1. Because nothing much could've happened in the span of, I don't know, 40 years that would cause her to go her own way.

At the end of the review and all that ranting, he says that it's a good movie. It just wasn't comic accurate apparently.

I don't think anyone is disputing a prequel. Why rant about it?

Patrick Stewart didn't have an English accent in the X-Men movies?

I love his gripes about post 2000 X characters in the 1960's setting.
