I'd like to see Juggernaut in there depending on how Fear Itself/Thunderbolts plays out

These speculations need to be wilder. Where's the pathos, drama and sense of personal loss?

Can I ask what may be considered a dumb question? What exactly are we talking about here? I haven't heard anything about a new Dark Avengers...

This..

I'm a trade-waiter, so I'm clueless. Did something happen in recent issues of the Avengers books??

I know there was a thread not to long ago asking about Wonder Man starting a group of disaffected Avengers. Bendis chimed in to say something along the lines of "just wait"

I predict the team will be made up of:
#050505
#101010
#060606
#1C1C1C
#393939
#390100
and maybe a special guest appearance from #0D1025 and #163700

The New Avengers add a devilish new member (http://www.usatoday.com/life/comics/2011-06-08-The-New-Avengers-add-a-devilish-new-member_n.htm)

Following New Avengers 16, Bendis' last Fear Itself tie-in, Issue 16.1 sets up the next story line for both his Avengers and New Avengers titles: the rise of Norman Osborn and the new H.A.M.M.E.R., as well as the return of the Dark Avengers. With Osborn out of prison (as seen in Kelly Sue DeConnick's recent Osborn miniseries), he and his new group make their first big move, and the Avengers are there to deal with it.

In his quest to finally defeat the reformed Avengers and the new New Avengers, Norman "Bat$h!t Crazy" Osborn puts together a team of the misguided, the misbegotten and the misanthropic for mischief and mishegas.

It isn't hard for a powerful villain and zany super-scientist like the Green Goblin to recreate the Ragnarok clone, find the amnesiac (assumed dead) William Burnside, turn Dragonfly to his dark purposes, make a turncoat mole out of Scott Lang, convince Future Tony to lead his new Dark Avengers, provide an excuse for mayhem to the Gray Hulk, twist the Tumbler to his nefarious schemes, steal a Reed Richards-built android backup of the recently-deceased Human Torch and re-engineer it as a recreated Vision, recruit Typhoid Mary to his team of villainous doubles, locate the Carnage symbiote and give it to a new host of his own choosing, or gather enough genetic material to re-clone Scarlet Spider Michael Van Patrick.

Disguising this new team as the classic Avengers of the past, Osborn warps the minds and wrecks the realities of today's heroes!

Also, in regards to Scott Lang, how many times has one of the Ant-Men avoided certain death by shrinking down to the Microverse? Lots. Freakin' countless.

Avengers Children's Crusade isn't finished yet. And Dan Slott debunked that one in Avengers: The Initiative.

What if shrinking down to nanoscale to avoid certain death ruined his mind? Or Normie held Cassie hostage for collateral? Or Scott had an ax to grind for letting Scarlet Witch and JoH sink so low? Huh? Huh?

He used the hell out of it in Mighty Avengers. I remember maybe three instances of "Oh look I shrunk down into the Microverse." Oh, yeah, I do recall that Skrull Yellowjacket used that line but it wasn't actual, though... Hrm.

It shouldn't be hard for Stormin Norman to recruit Carnage or Mac Gargan though.

And since Flash Thompson is currently using the Venom symbiote, Mac Gargan could probably be convinced to become Carnage.

Highly doubt it. Cletus wouldn't like that, and Gargan is waaaaaaaaaay more powerful now than he ever was as Venom.

I haven't read the Carnage mini-series yet. I didn't realize Gargan was active now. I guess he must be Scorpion again. I was wondering how the symbiote was available for Flash Thompson to be using it. I just assumed Gargan was in custody and the symbiote had been confiscated.

Norman was the Hood's boss. Do you mean as the Green Goblin, in costume, with all of the other baddies? I think they'll still play up the "Mr. Osborn the executive" angle, since he's gonna be the head guy at H.A.M.M.E.R. again.

About Carnage and Gargan:

No, The symbiote kept Cletus alive as he was falling to earth, he's still Carnage, he just has an artifical lower body now.

Gargan was recently grafted into a new Scorpion suit in Amazing, supposedly making him more powerful than he was as Venom, seems unlikely that he would want the symbiote back.

Oh. I looked 'em up. Actually, those would make really good colors if someone wanted to redo the Janet van Dyne-designed Avengers uniforms, in black, darker black, soft charcoal, a deep steel/saxon/prussian blue and forest green. I think that would look kind of cool for that first group I listed. Oh course, you'd also need some #FF2400 or #8C1717.

Phantom Eagle

I also just realized that Loki has impersonated the Scarlet Witch before, and Atlas could impersonate Goliath. Somebody like Fixer could pretend to be Yellowjacket. And there has to be either an evil version of the Black Knight, an Ultraverse version of the Black Knight or somebody like Philip Jarvert who could be found on an alternate Earth to act as an impostor. Now to just find an evil winged horse.

He could also be Grey Gargoyle, utilize one of the Spidey-esque symbiotes, wear the Iron Patriot armor, or pose as a super-soldier, since he has enhanced strength and etc. Hell, he could even become the new Headsman. They could even steal Eddie Brock's Anti-Venom suit or one of Spider-Man's FF suits, and make him a new Dark Arachknight.

I just decided to start reading Spider-Man comics again, after about twenty years away from it. Went back to BND, and will be reading forward from there, but I haven't started yet. Got the books from the public library stacked on the bookshelf in the giant "To Read" pile. Also, I bought both the American Son and Carnage minis, but haven't gotten to them either. Depending on the title and which corner of the 616-verse concerned, I'm somewhere between a year and two decades behind. No worries, though. I haven't been a day and date guy since about 1993, so spoilers have become a way of life, what with teh intarwebz and all. Thanks for the updates.

Cheers.
