Over at CBR Mike Sturges was interviewed about an upcoming Power Girl issue where Power Girl goes to a con that revolves around her. His idea is that the superheroes of the DCU are celebrities and that they have conventions much like Star Trek or Dr. Who con's in our world.
At the moment I think that Dinah and the rest of the BOP are sort of low key off the radar, but when she was leading the JLA and being more prominent wouldn't it make sense that she would have a con as well?

Some how I doubt it, the Birds are not what I would call con material. Kara can deal with the attention and fame, Dinah, not so much unless it involves getting to punch or kick somebody.

Nah, Power Girl is a big, flashy, flying sex symbol. It makes sense people would gravitate to her and celebrate her. Black Canary is basically girl-Batman as far as DCU public appeal and recognition goes.

It's pretty rare that a con gets devoted to one person's fans. I'd think only Power Girl and maybe Supergirl or Zatanna would get to that level in the DCU. Wonder Woman when she's not retconned.

For the guy heroes, Superman for sure. I could see Batman having an "urban legend" con of some kind, and Flash in Central City, but that's it.

We have seen in Secret Six that there are strippers who dress like Huntress, maybe getting a con is a bit like a tv show being a hit in the ratings. I can see cons devoted to teams like the JL or JS, though not a team like Doom Patrol or the Outsiders.

Sort of, but Canary is a lot more approachable then Batman, that's by design sense Canary is out to be a symbol to drive fear into the hearts of criminals, she lets her fist and feet do that job.

Thing is PG is a role model, like Wonder Woman or Superman. She may not have the experience in PR the way those two do, but she understands here place as a role model, and tries to do her best with that. Including making public appearances.

Canary isn't a role model, she would be the first to tell everyone she isn't, and that she would make a terrible role model. She wouldn't be comfortable with an event centered around her.

Slightly off topic, but Wonder Woman has her own day in Portland as part of domestic violence awareness month. I think it would be a really great idea if someone *cough* Gail *cough* penned a Wonder Woman Day comic.
