Post what I posted elsewhere:

Ray, what did you think of the season debut of Apprentice last night?

Or anyone else who wants to chip in. Spoiler tags for those who may not have seen yet.

I was on the edge of my seat for that entire boardroom, I don't like (insert contestant here) but it felt like they were trying to sabotage (this contestant) based on their feelings for (this contestant) and not based on (his/her) abilities.

The person who went home deserved to go home, sadly.

I agree. To further add:

Real spoilers:

I thought it was smart of Hatch in the boardroom to speak in a level tone and a professional manner, as well as using "Sir," a lot when he addressed Trump, letting the others come across as unprofessional, which they did. Both were clearly against Hatch for personal reasons. Cassidy also didn't help his case when he went from taking no breaks to a couple. Big no-no. Also, anyone who's seen the show knows Trump likes those who fight for themselves in the boardroom.

Now, Hatch can be a tool but he makes for good TV. People might forget he actually worked in the corporate world prior to his first apareance on Survivor so that might help him. He's also a master manipulator. That said, there will be two disadvantages he will have. One is the lack of big name celeb friends he can call on for donations in donation driven tasks. The second is that the Donald has a major hard on for celebs, of which he isn't really, at least not in the way Trump would be a fan of.

Although Trump should be a fan, really, because Hatch helped make Survivor huge, which drove reality TV as a new genre and thus, allowed the Donald to profit from being on The Apprentice, which has also helped make Trump more well known and popular, as well.

Finally, am I the only sick person one who wants a task where the two project managers are Gary Busey and La Toya Jackson? Oh, what a trainwreck that would be.

Lisa dropped the ball. I think Trump wanted to fire Dionne, but he had no choice but to fire Lisa after he gave her every opportunity to establish an argument. I mean, she had a legit one -- Dionne established the concept, and Star wrote the book...and decided to make the font so small. Lisa deserved to be fired due to inept boardroom strategy.

This season will be hilarious. The women had me in LOLing, especially when La Toya started to cry. Classic TV. Dionne is proof that the elderly just stop giving a shit after 70, and Star is going to be beast in the boardroom.

Trump was right. Lisa looks much better with the reduction. Her lips on Veronica Mars were ridiculous, now they're just a bit strange.

I wanted either one of those hags gone, but Lisa didn't give 'em hell. It was on a tee, damn it.

Dionne won't be around long. Her ego will get in the way soon enough and she'll be called out on it again in the boardroom and Trump will have no choice but to see the pattern of her behavior.

Star, oh, man, I agree with the posters above, she's vicious and going to be a beast. She chooses each word very carefully to have the biggest bite and she's hard to counter atack on. She uses anything you say against you.

I was disapointed Marlee didn't rip on Dionne more - she was still too respectful of her, I thought. That has to change for her. I wish she had said what she told the camera, about never being treated as badly by anyone like Dionne treated her. Star will destroy some of those quiet ladies if they sit there all silent like some of them did this week.

A good start to the season.

Marlee surprised me the most. She was clearly pissed out of her mind at what Dionne and Star were doing during the whole project, you could see the laser beams coming out of her eyes. I don't know her, so maybe she's just not one to go totally off on anyone, but it seemed like she was really going to let loose and then just deflated.

I was telling my friend I was watching the episode with when Marlee made those faces, "That is genuine pissed, that's deep down hurt." It wasn't ego bruised, alpha male, control freak pissed but real to the core of yourself anger. Whole boardroom, I kept waiting for her to blow. I think she bit her tongue and was too respectful.

It was an obvious choice. It was her task, she failed, on her own accord.

Especially with what she told Jr. during the task, that it would be all on her. I agree 100%, there was no one else who could be blamed, despite any other flaws. There was no direction or plan. I was just shocked Trump didn't even try to draw it out for TV. Now we know why it was edited to make it appear Busey would lose - a no drama boardroom.

Jose and Dion's days are numbered, though. In general, jocks have never done anything on this show to change their rep as being all brawn. I don't think I've ever seen a jock take this thing seriously, which is a shame for their charities.

Meatloaf meltdown! Heh.

The women continue to lay down for Trump. With the way Hope has been a complete nonfactor, I thought she was ripe for the picking (off).

I felt the women would've faired better with better actors. They wanted poignant for their commercial, but the finished product was rushed and wooden. Marlee did great, though. Good actors can say more in silence than with words...the women should've used silence to their advantage by not resorting to Marlee speaking while signing.

Yep. My first thought was, "If she can speak hello, she can do that with any old phone? What's the big deal then with her signing on this one?" It was never brought up but I thought having Marlee speak at the last second completely undercut the commercial.

The men's edited commercial looked a lot better than I thought it was going to. To win on such a gamble gives Lil Jon huge credability on future tasks. People will consider his instincts. Looking forward to hopefully seeing him PM again down the line.

Also, yeah - fuck Dion.

Why anyone would continue to make statements like "I deserve to be fired if we lose" is beyond me. That's pretty much making the whole boardroom segment irrelevant.

I really like La Toya. She truly seems like a sweet and well-spoken woman, but she was a train wreck as PM. She's someone with fantastic work ethic, but she's got that Jackson penchant for nonsense...definitely Michael's spending habits.

The way Gary completely got into Meatloaf's head was hilarious...Meatloaf literally couldn't function next to Gary, haha. Looking forward to Star vs. Nene as the next big storyline of the show.

And Hope brought it this week. After being a non-factor since, well, episode one, she finally showed herself to be competent during the presentation.

This firing should have happened two weeks ago, instead of Richard Hatch. Sure, hatch didn't raise any funds but the women were so far ahead that even if Hatch brought in $200,000 in donations the men still would have lost that week. John Rich almost single handedly raised all his team's money. As for last week, well, Mark dug his own grave but damn, both those guys would have been more useful for the men's team.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a team shake up. I thought that was coming in the opening when they showed the women laughing their ass off over the men's team still having to deal with Gary, that they'd suddenly have to learn to deal with him themselves and it wouldn't be funny then.

Mylazycat
04-28-2011, 04:48 AM
I hate when it gets to the point where someone who deserves to be fired for fucking up a task, like Star, but because they're a strong player overall or keeping them around will make for a better show, they turn to someone who's been weak overall, not, somehow, not weak enough to be fired prior. Gary and Latoya should have been week ages ago but Star thought she was all that on this task and she crapped the results. Latoya had nothing to do with this week's loss. If Trump had any balls he'd have fired Latoya for her overall performance and Star for her blunder this week as the company they did such a poor job on was his own.

Also, I think it was week one in advertising class in college they told us the golden rule: don't bombard your print ad with text. You think one of the guys would have overseen a CD cover or back or CD insert booklet or something to know not to overwhelm with text.

The firing shocked me. I've had John Rich and Star in the finals for awhile now. At this point, I can see any two of the remaining four being in the finals except for Meat Loaf. The final task is usually to oversee a real, actual big scale Trump charity event, so no way is Meat Loaf, with his hair trigger stress/emotional meltdown swings, going to be put in charge of something that big and important.

John Rich is 100% given. It's Marlee vs Lil Jon that will be interesting. Final four is usually cut down to two by way of interviews and then Trump decides based off the results, right?

That's what they're doing.

Trumps got a hard on for Marlee, she could take a shit on the conference table and she'd be in the finals.

Yeah I think it's been obvious for awhile that will be the finals.

Thinking of it, yeah, they each beat the other once, so I can see Trump saying he wants to see the rubber match in the finals.

I see Marlee doing better in the interviews then.

I thought she'd be the type of person who'd go down swinging and fighting. I expected her possible firing to be a bloodbath of a boardroom. So disapointed she just upped and walked away, after not even having to be on Star's team anymore!

She was quick to attack and sensitive, an odd combination. If anything she could have quit after seeing Star get fired!

Yeah, that's what Donald was saying. I really like Nene, so she let me down.

Much like Meat Loaf, actually. It's hard to believe the guy who looked like he really wanted to rip Gary's head off is the same guy who turned into a sobbing mess about his charity.

I actually really like Marlee's concept, but she made a mistake letting Meatloaf execute everything. I don't get the use of the superhero...? But I like the concept. I think she has the creative edge, but she isn't the manager John Rich is. John Rich perfectly delegates to his team...they all seem to get their own personal niche to fill which completely suits them. He was a little harsh with the road manager, though...especially considering the Deff Leppard was brought in by 7UP, so it's not like they're "his" people.

Should be a lot of fireworks at the reunion immediately following the episode...I expect...

Lisa Rina vs. Star Jones

Star Jones vs. Nene

Nene vs. Dionne Warwick

Nene vs. Donald Trump

Gary Busey vs. martians

Donald Trump vs. Obama

And I'm sure Meatloaf will cry at least once.

I assume the superhero was because Wonder Woman was big in the 70's.

I thought that might be it...but seeing as how they wouldn't be able to use WW, I'm not so sure utilizing a derivative is worth it. Kind of a stretch...and the dialog in the commercial was just awful. I know the intent was to be cliche, but even for those standards, it was weak.

Every time Marlee was dancing I kept thinking of the Family Guy sketch when Stewie calls her out for farting all the time.

Good call on the winner. Very happy with that decision. Was afraid Trump was gonna puss out and choose both.
