Got my newest DCBS order yesterday, and since Canada gets comics today, I figured I'd start us off!

Ultimate Spider-Man #150- Man, this was a GREAT comic. Fun story, great art... The only artist I wasn't thrilled with was the one chosen for the Captain America segment. Not that it was a bad choice, but just not as great as the Iron Man and Thor segments. Skottie Young, on the other hand, was a perfect choice. I absolutely loved his segment.

Avengers #7- I can honestly say that the opening sequence in this issue might be one of the best things I've seen JR draw in years. I've heard some complaining about the pacing, but I loved that opener, even if I'm a little "Hooded out."

Deadpool- This book is laugh out loud hysterical. Daniel Way has a great knack for visual humor and timing. Deadpool's decapitation of the clone was really funny. This is easily one of my favorite books, month in and month out.

X-Men #5- I cannot say enough good things about this book. What a fun arc. Ice Man only gets a couple brief panels, but he easily steals the issue with a really inventive use of his powers. Girschler and Medina are really acing this. I'm excited for Bachalo's upcoming arc, too.

X-Force #2- I am so glad I stuck around after Kyle and Yost left. I was on the fence, but man, this book is very solid. Great character interaction and superb art. I love the new headquarters! It out Batcaves the Batcave.

Invincible Iron Man- This was awesome. This arc has dragged on too long, but if next issue is anything like this one (fast paced and action filled), it'll be a nice wrap-up.

Amazing Spider-Man #560- I spoiled myself (a little bit) on this issue, but I was STILL shocked at the opening sequence. Holy crap, Dan. I'm a little sad to see something like this happen to one of my favorite Spider-Girl characters, but we'll see where it goes.

Thunderstrike #1- Decent start. I really liked Todd Nauck's segment at the end, although the costume accuracy (both in his segment and in Frenz's) is a little TOO good. I wish they'd just stuck to showing characters whose costumes haven't changed that much (like the Vision and Quicksilver), because the ones they did show look worse than they did back then. Captain America, in particular, looks like an idiot. Why bother reminding us?

Ultimate Avengers- Why am I reading this? This book is just insanely silly. I'm also getting pretty sick of all of these "wacky" secondary versions of Ultimate characters. It's getting really over-done in this book.

Transformers: The Best of Grimlock- I LOVE the stories they picked. I'm kinda bummed that his first appearence isn't in there, but there are a few UK stories I've never read in here. Can't wait to crack into this puppy.

Also picked up: Legion of Superheroes: The Great Darkness Saga, G.I. Joe: Cobra vol. 2 and G-Man vol. 1. I've got my reading cut out for me for quite a while. :surrend:

I didn't think Canada got comics today. At least not most stores.

The most recent issue in particular was fantastic, probably one of my favourite issues this year.

I think I still hold the Bullseye (Hawkeye) arc over this one, but the book is just so consistently good. The art and humor are always top notch. So far, there's only been one arc I really haven't cared for (the Pirate one).

Yeah, Daniel Way is the up there with Kelly and Gail as far as Deadpool writers go. Great stuff. Amazon has a ghost listing of the first 16 or so Way issues in over-sized hardcover. I think it's allegedly due in April? I may have to double dip.

Score! Give a shout when you finish reading it. The premise is intriguing but I didn't pick it up the first time around.

No doubt - he's one of those guys who has impressed me even more once I saw his original art in person.

Buffy #39 - I thought the last scene with Amy & Warren was very funny. But the big shock was Big Scooby death spoiler that Giles has seen Gran Torino. There ain't no coming back from that.

Jonah Hex #62 - Edward Risso was born to draw Jonah Hex. A fun story about an odd package & carney justice.

Buffy Season 8 #39
This book has been a trainwreck since the end of Drew Goddard's Dracula arc (Which I loved). Purely staying in this out of devotion now. This arc has been a mess and this issue just added to it.

4/10

Generation Hope #2
I'm still not sure if I want to keep on this book or not. This issue was irritating in the fact that it focused more on Rogue, Wolverine and Cyclops then on the Lights. There supposed to be the stars of this book so they really should be front and centre.

6/10

Heroes for Hire #1
This read like the Marvel version of Birds of Prey until that last page. Its an interesting twist that I hope manages to differentiate it from BoP. I did not like the art in parts, particularly the Misty Knight Panels.

5/10

Secret Six #28
This is probably the oddest arc in this book so far. Manages to set up some great things for the future with the last scene with Waller.

Giganta possibly murdering Dwarfstar was so well played and its scenes like this that make me love this book

7/10

The big event in Buffy was pretty shocking. I've been bored with the book for the most part, and I still think the whole Twilight concept is pretty dumb, but I reread the 4 issues from the Whedon arc and thought they were much stronger on reread. Whedon's Spike is fantastic, and you get some sympathy for Angel, whose best intentions literally pave the road to hell. One of the problems I had with this season is that it was too big, with too much magic and dimensional nonsense. It was too much of a departure from the show. The ending of this issue looks to change all of that and promises a more grounded Season 9, with tons of new character issues and resentments to keep the dynamics interesting.
