View Full Version : Lady Blackhawk needs a minigun
Zinda can never have enough dakka (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MoreDakka), just saying.

Yikes, no she doesn't!
Seriously, though...this is one of those things, like people asking for Catman's costume to be updated, that I think would change the charm of the character.
She doesn't NEED to be modernized!

Agreed. I don't want to see her in a sleek catsuit with a lot of pockets for ammo, either. She's perfect as she is.

Actually Tyr is right..
she needs one of these

But then again is it really right to call this a "Mini"gun :P

For those who don't know the Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II aka "Warthog" is a GAU-8 "Avenger" (the "mini"gun) with wings, 2 jet engines and a cockpit :P

Who said anything about modernizing her? I never said the character needs to be changed, or that it would be permanent, just a momentary gratuitous use of firepower is all. It's not like she hasn't done it before, or doesn't want to do it. You had her shoot up a ridge in Iceland with "silenced" chain guns of all things.

Yup to a mini-gun in Aerie One.
...and Zinda just needs the occasional 9mm Heckler & Koch MP or M-203 if she needs more punch than her usual twin Colt .45s as sidearms.

Gonna second the A-10. The proper answer to any problem is MORE DAKKA.

I could see a full-page spread of her with a mini-gun, if only as a one-time deal.
But speaking of Zinda needing more dakka...what's the Haunted Tank up to these days? :scared:

I was hoping an artist here would draw this.

Being a mini series in vertigo press, I have it in my collection somewhere.

Gail, give Ky back his minigun.
It's OK... He still has his poison tipped blowgun and flipper knives.

That's beside the point Cam, blue ducks should never be without their miniguns.
...Oh and Lara Croft has a minigun....

How does she fit it in a thigh holster ?
How does she fit it in a thigh holster ?
She slings it on her back, like she does with any rifle she is carrying.

This is only tangentially related, but I had a nice little happy moment when Sheldon wore his Blackhawk t-shirt on Big Bang Theory last night.

if Zinda really needs moar dakka, why not just give her a pair of Colt's experimental 1911 machine pistols? they made them in .45 ACP, and John Dillenger had one chambered in .38 Super...
it's even possible (though currently illegal) to convert a semi-auto 1911 into a select-fire weapon.

I am not framiliar with this character. I should do a Google image search for a visual reference.

HELLO! Well, now I know what I'm doing tonight.
Oh, wait, the topic.
I'm not saying she NEEDS a minigun, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Looking at said weapon below...

...it might be a tad bulky for our Zinda to carry for a hand held piece.

Actually holding and firing one is possible, Jesse Ventura claimed this in his autobiography. Course he also said it was probably the most ridiculous thing he's ever done.
In any case you both realize your arguing for realism in comics. Is it any more unrealistic then silence machine guns, rubber ammo that is non lethal despite going at sub sonic speeds, or for that matter dual wielding colt .45s in the first place? Come on, I know the two of you know better then that. But were willing to suspend our disbelieve, cause its fun....just like hand held mini guns.

I know... and it still irritates me when someone carrying a .45 Thompson SMG in a comic/movie/TV show has Garand M1 ammo pouches to reload with.
As for Ventura, Vietnam Navy SEALs tended to carry the Stoner or a cut down MG-60 if they wanted more grunt than an M-16 Armalite.

Well, as Ventura again pointed out, just because you could hold a minigun and fire it in real combat doesn't mean you'd want to. In his own words, "'You just had to grit your teeth and hold on. It's like firing a chainsaw. It's fucking ridiculous. Why the fuck would anyone want to use something like that?"
The same would apply for firing doing guns akimbo with colt .45's it be difficult enough trying to hit anything with a pair of twin garden variety 9's, let alone a pair of 1911's.
Thing is, they exist in fiction land not because there practical, but because there cool. I'm not saying that Zinda should throw away were twin colts for a minigun, nor would she, Gail is right, it wouldn't be her style.
But I'm sure Zinda would love to try it out, just to brag about it later if nothing else. And it would be fun for a couple of pages.

Properly mounted on the right vehicle, of course she should have a mini-gun. As a man-portable '90s-comic style monstrosity... no.
She comes from a time when men and women didn't need huge guns to show off how badass they were!

Minigun's are not a 90's comic monstrosity! This is a 90's comic monstrosity!

Mini gun's may be big. They may shoot loots of bullets. They can't really be used all that well in actual combat as a hand held. But, Miniguns have spinning, therefore they are cool! (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitleguyrf8v8yb34?from=Main.EverythingsBetterWith Spinning)
Besides Minigun bfg love started in the 80's, so there!
