Disney Debuts Movie Princess-Inspired Wedding Gowns

If you're looking for a fairy tale ending, you'll need a proposal from your very own Prince Charming and a dress fit for a princess. But how would you feel dressing like a Disney princess? Wedding outfitter Alfred Angelo has teamed up Disney on a collection of gowns inspired by those worn by princesses Ariel, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Snow White and Tiana.

No, we're not joking. You can actually dress like the Little Mermaid on your wedding day. Granted there is no aqua mermaid tail, but sea-inspired dress does have a mermaid-style cut, pearl beading, and sequin sparkles. Each of the other gowns takes on a similar liberal interpretation on the style of the princesses. The Sleeping Beauty gown is romantic with a willowy skirt. Belle's dress has a draped waistline and is inspired by the ballroom dance scene from the movie. The Cinderella-inspired dress is heavy on sparkle as a reference to her glass slipper. Snow White's dress is traditional and inspired by nature with a floral bodice. For those looking for a more modern approach, Jasmine's dress is draped satin with a bejeweled neckline, and the Tiana gown features an asymmetrical top and ruched skirt. Thankfully none of these interpretations were so literally that wedding guests would immediately identify the designs as inspired by a Disney character.

Disney released this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzj94IoIAws) showing all seven gowns.

"We are excited to use our expertise to fulfill the dreams of brides everywhere who long to feel like a Disney Princess," says Michele Piccione, co-owner and Chief Creative Officer of Alfred Angelo. Pam Lifford, executive vice president of global fashion and home for Disney Consumer Products also insists that "every bride wants to be a princess on her wedding day."

OK, we get that many brides wouldn't mind looking like a princess, but a Disney princess? Really? We know that Disney often sets up little girls to expect her happy ending, but we didn't expect grown women to want to literally dress like a Disney princess for her wedding. For interested parties, the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings collection will be available in sizes 0 to 30W for $599 to $1,199 at Alfred Angelo Signature stores and select Alfred Angelo wholesale Partner Bridal Boutiques next year.

But maybe you'd rather look like another leading lady--perhaps a non-animated one--on your wedding day. Bridal designers often attempted to capture many on-screen looks for their wedding gowns, as they are frequently requested. Hey, sometimes you see something in a movie and it's exactly what you're looking for! So if dressing like a Disney princess isn't what you had in mind for your big day, we've found dresses inspired by other famous gals that might be your style. Take a look. Bold move topping out at 30W - that's going to eliminate a lot of would be brides that would actually spend $1200 on a halloween wedding costume.

They're not bad looking, but not my thing. That Givenchy dress that Audrey Hepburn wore is absolutely beautiful, though.
