I'm thinking of picking it up as it is one of the Vertigo series that I've had my eye on for some time now.

It's spectacular.

Vaughn and Pia are probably one of the best creative teams since.....ever.

Pia is one of the reasons I really want to get it. She used to be a YABSTER and is married to longtime poster Ian Boothby.

Did I mention that it's really good, with great art? I should mention that.

Havent' read it myself, but if my first exposure to Vaughn's work, Pride of Baghdad, is any indication of his talent, then I'm quite confident.

Yes. Its amazing. Shame on you for not having read it yet. ;-)

And when you're done with that go out and pick up the rest of Vaughan's work. It is equally amazing and thought provoking. :D

This is a link to the entire first issue for free on the Vertigo website.

It'll give you a taste of the series. They have several other first issues too.

It's definitely very good. I do feel that it dragged somewhat in its third year on and that the cliffhanger endings made the book seem formulaic at times, but overall, it's well worth your money. Also, many people may disagree with me, but I found its final issue to be one of the most satisifying conclusions in recent memory.

The HCs have great production values, too. So many DC HCs seem like they will fall apart if you look at them too long, but the paper stock for Y, Deluxe is excellent.

Seriously. If I could repeat this with much larger text and sparkling flashies, I would.

It's so hard to answer this question without being condescending or questioning your love of comics so I'm going to abstain.

Oh man, I get chills even thinking about the ending of Pride of Baghdad. I was a MESS.

Oh, and regarding the title of this thread...

Just bought Volume Four. It is a really good series. Just a shame there are only ten books. Oh well.

I see no reason to Echo what's already been said. You should read Fable's too if you haven't already.

Great stuff, top to bottom.

I loved the opening arc, Safeword, and the final dozen issues the most. One of the best final issues of all-time, I ended up crying.

I won the auction for all 10 trades. Because of this thread I increased my max bid and it's a good thing too as I came within two bucks of losing to the next bidder.

I don't like the way things wrapped up, but its worth it to spend money on the series.

Y: The Last Man is the only series in which I own the complete collection in singles. And I plan on collecting it in hardcover as well.

It is the reason I went online to find other comic readers in the first place.

And it is my favorite limited comic series next to The Sandman.

I have a question along the same lines:

Did the Beatles write and record any catchy songs?

As my dad always says: Does the pope sh*t in the woods?

It was a brilliant read with everything you look for and I do mean everything. The only thing I have an issue with was how the story ended as moving and beautiful as it was.

I wouldn't touch a fucking thing about the ending, as tragic and haunting and heart-breaking as it was.

It resonated with me but like other Vertigo series I would have preferred a more happy resolution the character arcs that I became so emotionally invested in.

After I created this thread. I actually increased my bid on ebay because of this thread and won the auction by a couple of bucks, so this thread is the reason why I own the series.
