Mine changed my life. I wouldn't have a web comic without it.

I totally agree and if I could even remotely draw I would get one of these asap. Anyone who draws should think about trading in their car or robbing a bank and get one of these.

I have the smaller 10" model, which is "only" $999 (Hey, compared to $2400). I don't feel restricted on it at all. I tend to draw in a really confined space, anyway, I wouldn't know what to do with the bigger versions.

Yeah I'm sure it can still get the job done. My wife has talent and I'd but one for her (so I could play with it also) but she hasn't been drawing in a while.

I've played with a Cintiq, but I just prefer traditional methods. I'm not an elitist by any means though. I use photoshop for post a lot.

Yeah, I'm getting the 12 inch Cintiq here in a couple of months. There's no way I can afford the 21 inch Cintiq. But the smaller one will get the job done.

It is nice to watch, isn't it? The Jamie Grant video is great, also. I'm enjoying that whole blog, and kinda surprised to see a page at TCJ for superheroes, but thankfully they've always been about craft. The "how I do it" videos with acerbic Scotsmen are quite amusing, and the other pages (like the Alex Schomburg covers) are pretty nice, too. Thanks to the OP.

He's working on the cover to a book I wrote at the 7:30 mark. More than a little surreal, that.

I like the little cintiq. I can't remember the model. I don't have one I just mean I like the idea of a small one.

As much as I love Frank Quitely, nothing beats watching Jim Lee draw at the speed of light, slopping ink all over his page.

Excluding Jim Lee, I was surprised at how much time some of these artists known for their "busy sloppy fast line work" spend on simple drawings. There's a video of Bill Sienkiewicz drawing Elektra and it took much longer than I imagined it would.

I have the 12" Cintiq and can't really recommend it. You're limited to a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, and at least mine responds slowly to input.

If you already have a big monitor and want to run a 2 monitor setup with the Cintiq, the two different resolutions will make work harder than it should be.

Right now I'm moving pages onto the Cintiq to work on them, and then back to the main monitor to do tweaks.

So if you're still in the market for a Cintiq, save up to get the 21" or 22" model.

How do you manage your tools? Are they on your main monitor (how I do it for example), or do you use few enough to all fit them on the Cintiq?

Gotta say it again, man. It's awesome to see a Benboer doin' it. Loved Morning Glories by the way.

Oh yes, toolbars go on another monitor. I've been doing that since before I had a Cintiq. Always nice to have a clear screen for the art.

I don't really have the workflow problems you described, either. The monitors being 2 different resolutions isn't really a problem for me.
