Inspired by the "Comic Book Moments that Made You Cry" thread
Rescue Me is guaranteed to be quite upsetting at at least one or two moments every season but when Johnny Gavin (Dean Winters) died the Gavin's dad insists that everyone wears bright clothes to his funeral because "my boy was always laughing" I bawled like a small child.
What got you?

I think it was season 3 of 24, where Jack Bauer is flying out to the middle of the desert to detonate a bomb and sacrifice himself. His last moments are on the phone with Kim Bauer. The "I love you, daddy" thing had my eyes well up. I think I'm a softy for parent-child relationships.
And LOST: Desmond and Penny in the "The Constant". God that was a great moment.

From Lost, the episode "Greatest Hits."
Also, when Faraday sees a young Charlotte.
Also, when Homer Simpson's mother passed away.

I love The Constant.
Charlie's death in LOST really got me too. Also the moment in The End where he remembered everything. Dominic Monaghan really gave a great performance on that show.

The Body episode so many have mentioned.
The moment in Faith, Hope and Trick where Giles gets Buffy to tell him what really happened when she killed Angel and you find out the spell he'd been talking about wasn't real at all. He just wanted to help Buffy move on.
Faith begging Angel to kill her in the Alley in the pouring rain. I hated the character of Faith until that moment but I'd never seen anyone so completely broken as that character was at that moment and the thought of what must have happened to that person to break them that badly was crushing.
Wes' death in Not Fade away. When Illyria ask him if he wants her to lie to him now and he answers yes and she becomes Fred.
Half a dozen moments on the end of Lost. Charlie and Claire's reunion and as Kate and Jack fan when Jack remembered. Sawyer and Juliet. I swear that episode should have been sponsored by Kleenex.
The last episode of Veronica Mars when Keith throws away everything he'd ever worked for to protect his child and because the idiots at the network canceled it.
When Jonathan Kent died on Smallville.
I should note I'm an easy touch for crying at shows.
Teal_Lantern
08-02-2010, 04:51 PM
Speaking of Smallville, when Lex has a flashback to when his mother went insane. Damn, that was just depressing.
Although, I rarely cry in fiction. Atlhgough sometimes I do get sad.
Also, I can't believe I'm the first person to say this, but the death of Jin and Sun on Lost, I mean you saw them literally one minute afterward, but still!

Yeah, I just came in here to say The Body and unsurprisingly everyone else had already mentioned it. There were TONS of Buffyverse episodes that got me all emotional, but the other really big one was A Hole in the World from Angel season 5...it absolutely destroyed me.
Battlestar Galactica tugged at the heart strings quite a bit too. Starbuck dying in season 3 and the Admiral finds the card she made him where she has a mustache, the fleet finding "Earth" and then discovering it was nuked by the Cylons, the entire finale...ugh, this show made me such a weepy mess. I got way too attached to it.
Oh, and then there was the scene in Avatar: The Last Airbender when Uncle Iroh is singing to his dead son, which was made even sadder by the fact that the voice actor who played him had just died.
I'm SUCH a crybaby!

I loved that! Because I didn't have to stay sad for long.
When Vincent kept Jack company in the end.
That's my fave scene in the finale (and possibly the whole show). Everyone keeps mentioning the "live together, die alone" motto but in the end, Jack didn't die alone. Vincent made sure he didn't die alone. That to me is the essence of Lost. Screw dying alone, we'll keep you company.
Lost definitely had quite a few of those made you sad/cry/teary eyed moments (The Constant, Greatest Hits and the finale come to mind).
The DS9 episode titled The Visitor got me pretty emotional. When I showed it to my wife, I looked at her face after the episode ended and it was full of tears.
And quite possibly the biggest one of all is the Futurama episode about Fry's dog. I've only ever watched it once because I can't make myself go through that sad shit again. Great episode though which had really fun moments before it got all sad.

There's that too. I hope they revive the dog in a future episode. So maybe then I can rewatch that episode.
Re: Fry's dog
Bender's Big Score takes a big chunk out of the sting
A very tiny bit (for me). Its still very sad. Fry didn't revive his dog because he believed that his dog forgot about him. But he never did. That's the sad part. He waited years just for Fry to come back.

So many:
Battlestar: Daybreak, Revelations, Sometimes a Great Notion, Pegasus (specifically the torture scenes)
Buffy: The Body, The Gift, Seeing Red, Becoming part 2
Farscape: Self Inflicted Wounds, Infinite Possibilities, PK Wars
Deep Space Nine: Tears of the Prophets, What You Leave Behind
Next Generation: All Good Things
Babylon 5: Sleeping in Light, Between the Darkness and the Light, Rising Star
I could go on, but I'll stop here.

Fry went back to 2000 twice: the first Fry froze himself again, and the second Fry stayed in 2000 and lived his life like normal until Bender tried to kill him and flashed-fossilized Seymour.

I dunno. I tear up at the "Named for his uncle to carry on his spirit" line, cause it's kinda sad that he spent the whole episode bitching about how fucking horrible his brother was and how much he hated him, but then you find out that Yancy loved Philip so much that he named his kid after him when he thought he did.

Yeah, but the happy part is that his brother really did care about him. So, for me, that would be more bittersweet than downer. With Seymour, he just kinda got screwed.

"The Body" Episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

The moment in Band of Brothers when the real Dick Winters quotes a conversation between one of his men and that man's grandson makes me cry a little every time.
In the UK Office when David Brent asks not to be fired. Maybe it's the tonal shift that gets me but it got me.
The aforementioned scene of Bubbles getting to come up out of the cellar in the Wire.

I didn't cry exactly (I don't even cry in movies, believe it or not), but I definitely got choked up recently (as did my husband, surprisingly) in a recent episode of NCIS. I swear, Abby gets me every time.

I don't think hat I have ever actually cried at a TV show but have gotten pretty sad.
Also, every single episode of Cold Case, it's like that show's entire point is just to make each story as sad as possible, saddest one would be the teenage mothers episode.

I admitted this in the other thread as well, but I really honestly cry at the drop of a hat, when it comes to tv and movies. Way more than real life. I swear it's the music/score that gets me. Here are a few of the most memorable or recent ones. If I listed them all, I may go over the character limit.
-Charlie's death in Lost. I LOVED Charlie.
-Jack's death in the Lost finale. I made it through almost that whole show without sobbing too hard, and then that good doggie wouldn't let Jack die alone. (I seriously just got teary eyed thinking about it).
-Buffy's mom dying
-Buffy dying to save Dawn
-The finale of Dawnson's Creek (don't judge!) Poor Jen:sad:
-Most anything that is supposed to make someone emotional, will most likely bring me to tears.
There are a million more. I will add if I remember anything terribly ridiculous.

Have to go with the season four finale of The Wire when Randy starts yelling at Carver in the hospital. After seeing Michael's fall from grace, that was the moment that pushed me over the edge emotionally. I don't think there's ever been anything as sad on television as season four of The Wire.

I think Scrubs meant more to me than any other tv show, because it came at such a hugely depressing time (just after 9/11, just left high school and tried to get things going at university, my parents had divorced, etc), and it was the one thing that I could rely on to keep me smiling.
