Just rewatched this flick, and apart from the excellent performances, I gotta say, the direction is pretty darn sharp. Webb makes strong use of various film making techniques that compliment, rather than overpower, the plot, and seems to have a firm understanding of how to make a film, rather than just another 90 minute music video (funny, given where he started).

That, if nothing else, gives me a slight bit of hope that his Spider-Man won't be complete garbage, despite the fact that they're forcing a reboot and casting another 27 year old as a teenager again. Not sure how Webb will handle the action sequences, but hey, it didn't seem to bother neophytes like Christopher Nolan (despite the criticisms for Batman Begins, I thought the action suited the tone and style of the movie and didn't rely heavily on CGI) or Jon Favreau.

Really, really great love story and top notch directing. I'm really hopeful that he'll do Spider-man well.

probably my favorite movie from last year. i've seen it a bunch of times and there's still scenes that get to me. (the reality vs. expectations scene, and the scene at the end on the park bench)

Made me like Hall and Oates as well.

The LA Conservancy has a self-guided tour of the locations used in the film; the real love story in the movie is the love letter to LA's architecture.

This was a pretty good movie. My girlfriend dragged me to see it and I was expecting another stupid rom com, but I'm glad it wasn't. It was a well done exploration of how what we want and how we view things isn't always the way it goes. I'm glad they didn't end up together because that would have ruined the whole movie.
