Anyone watching the new Phantom right now on Syfy?

I'll probably catch the repeat later on.

I watched the first half, but then Tru Blood and Futurama came on and my machine had to change channels. I'll catch the second half from the late night re-run.

Nope.

I'll catch it when SyFy or Hulu puts it online. But I'm not holding my breath on expecting something of high quality.

I'm not a fan of the suit but it's decent so far.

Watched it for about an hour and a half but just couldn't stay interested. I realize that is a four hour movie - but the plot just dragged on and on and on.

its meh. The guys too douchey and the suit is a retarded paintball suit.

I will say that from what I've seen the suit is no more lame than any other Phantom outfit.

I've never been into any incarnation of The Phantom, but what I've read of his mythology seems cool, seems like it has promise. Non-powered fighter, legacy hero, jungle adventurer, blazing .45s, rings that scar, and a pet wolf! Looking at his wiki, I see some elements I just know were retcons from the 80s or later...

It would later be revealed that the Skull Ring had been made from the nails that hung Jesus to the cross.

...but, again, the foundation is solid.

I remember I once saw the movie with Billy Zane and completely forgot the specifics by the next day, but the costume looked good. I think you roll with the costume and don't try and update it. Embrace the Golden Age and the era of pulps, goddamn it.

Unless its set in the era in which Pulps were popular, I say thee nay!

I think you can affect a retro-cool thing, like the Bruce Lee tracksuit in Kill Bill or even the Kato look in Jet Li's movie, Black Mask.

A little updating, sure, but maybe not so far it becomes paintball gear?

I didn't realize the Knaufs wrote the script for this.

I just watched this and while it wasn't amazing if they did decide to turn it into a series on Scifi, I'd watch it.
