So after a pretty long drought of 3 years I am pleased to show off 17 new additions from Library Binding Company! Rather than buckram I went all imitation leather this time and I am VERY pleased with the result.

The larger Conan volumes contain the DH ongoing series plus minis, while the smaller volumes are just the ongoing series. These were done in the brown/black pattern imitation leather.

The middle four volume set is a Fantasy Anthology of miniseries that I've been reading and collecting for years now. Some of the contents include Kull, Solomon Kane, Dracula vs. King Arthur, Dragon Prince, Scourge of the Gods...

Warhammer, 2 volumes of the BOOM! comics run.

5 volumes expanding my Star Wars project, with the full run of Empire, Knights of the Old Republic, and Infinities.

You don't wanna know how much it all cost :-)

I'm broke and haven't been able to get anything in a long time. It's a shame, too, because I have my Dark Reign volume of Bendis' Avengers just itching to be made.

How could you take so many comics and just flat out ruin them by binding them? . . . HA HA HA just kidding. I love binding. These came out really great. I like the Conan books especially. Congratulations on some really nice books.

Those are some great looking books. If you don't mind me asking is it expensive to have something like that done to a bunch of comics?

My girlfriend's friend's boyfriend asked me this when he saw all my bound comics. He was just floored when he saw them. He's one of those guys that has multiple copies of books like Sensational Spider-Man #0 and X-Men Prime and thinks their going to be worth a fortune any day now, but would never really read a comic.

Well since you asked, these 17 volumes cost $947 shipped media mail which is roughly $55 per volume. Library Binding's base cost is $16.50 per volume, but all the bells and whistles like die stamping, imitation leather, custom fonts, ribbon bookmarks, head and tail bands... they add up really quick.

If you don't mind using their standard font, it can be rather economical. These are all for my personal library, so I want them to look good out on a shelf. I've already had people ask to borrow stuff just because it's in plain sight and not in a closet sitting in bags and boards.

I've thought about doing this for awhile. Library Binding Company is in Waco, only about an hours drive from Austin.

Thud, I'll be in Austin this July. My group is playing at the International Trombone Festival at UT from July 7-10th.

I keep saying I'm gonna do this when I have the money. Hell I even have all of my Gen X books collected and mapped out in order, but I never pull the trigger

A Trombone Festival sounds cool. It's a great town, have fun!

I have a slew of SHADOW comics (DC's original series from the 70's, the Howard Chaykin/Andy Helfer/Sienkewicz/Baker era, THE SHADOW STRIKES and the few mini's DARK HORSE put out) all split into books and ready to go, I just have to send them out. They did a great job on the last batch I sent. Next will be my SANDMAN MYSTERY THEATREs.

I have got to say, those Conan hardcovers are classy looking.

Me too. Now that it's summer and I'm out of school I'm really hoping to have some time to design some covers/ tocs/ other random cool stuff and get some books done.

Drooooool...

Congratulations, they came out amazingly.

Always been a dream of mine to bind the shit outta my collection, but just need the funds + the time to go through absolutely everything I have for the best combinations.

Sounds like LBC has been sold (http://www.thecomicforums.com/forum2//index.php?showtopic=169799). Don't know what this means for my future with the hobby. I've been too broke to even do the cheap stuff lately.

The one project I have ready at the moment is a fourth volume of Bendis' Avengers. All the Dark Reign/Siege stuff, plus Spider-Woman thrown in the middle.

I'd like something like this, but for digital media. Andrew Loomis's drawing books are public domain and digitally available, and I get the feeling they'd be nice in binding.

When the books are bound, do you lose any of the page. I know there is a bleed section, but is it enough? I am interested in doing this; I just don't want to lose any of the page.

Does it come out readable? What about two page spreads do you still get the feel of them? I know that sometimes in trades two page spreads and stuff close to the gutter come out looking weird. Does that happen with these?

Binding...Print...haven't you heard we're going digital. Why woould you take digital media and go backwards printing and binding them!?!??!

I'm taking all of my comics, scanning them in and then using the comics as insulation or toilet paper.

Most of the books I've gotten bound don't have any noticeable loss between pages. They're usually about the equivalent of an oversized hardcover as far as page loss goes, so something pre-2000's where they had a wider white margin is going to be a little more readable then, say, a book like Powers that has full page spreads of dialogue that goes right to the center.
