There isn't much. It seems likely they'll do Shinkenger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfsUBh6WBLU) from the casting page. Casting was supposed to have ended the 20th, but they may still be acceppting applications.

Otherwise we don't know much, but details should be leaked soon.

I LOVED In Space. Think it was one of the best seasons. That, MMPR 3, and RPM are probably my favorites. Bulk and Skull... I can take or leave them. Generally I skip them when watching specific things on Youtube.

So I got the Mach and Paleomax Megazords today. Pretty cool. And the RPM Ultrazord is great.

I also finished Mystic Force a couple days ago. Blah. Really, all the rangers were annoying or boring. Xander was the biggest tool ever, Chip was sipposed to be the lovable geek, but he was annoying, Vida was supposed to be a bad girl but wasn't, Madison... Hey, she was cute. And Nick. Nick is not only whiny and annoying, but they made the damn season about him. How you can make a season around someone who is boring, whiny, and makes me want to strangle things is beyond me. Toby was annoying as fuck, I liked him better as Piggy. Daggeron was probably my favorite character, but everytime I heard him talk I expected a scaled blue dog to show up. Leanbow... Who? And Udonna was fine, she was the most interesting girl, and the tells you something.

So, there's my review :lol: At least some of the storylines were interesting.

I don't have all the news, but:

This October, presumably after ABC's TV contract to run PR ends, reruns of old shows (all seasons/series) will run on Nicktoons.

They haven't finished casting the new show yet. They are doing callbacks, but nothing is final yet.

There is a promo video from another promo company that I guess is handling Saban's stuff - http://www.marvista.net/

A friend of mine did a mock Super Sentai fan site, making up a fictional series and fleshing it out really well. She had me do the character designs, which are hidden under fanart alongside someone else's renditions of them. It was pretty fun, and I think we channeled the 80's particularly well.

I didn't realize it had been that long. But I'd say in my opinion, it was Dino Thunder. The two seasons under Doug Sloan, Ann, Janine, and Koichi are the best of the Disney era. Most of the era under the next guy is weak, although SPD did have some cool moments and wasn't too bad of a show.

I liked Dino Thunder for the nostalgia, obviously, and because of how well they did the evil Ranger storyline. There was also the collect-a-zord aspect, but it wasn't as bad as it was in Wild Force or Ninja Storm (from what I can tell of Operation Overdrive, it was overkill). And the villains in DT were believable and had a good overtone of menace.

Ninja Storm would be a close second for me. I liked a lot of the new mythology they built up, and how they explained the powers and what have you.

Dino Thunder was the one I watched the most of, though all these seasons were long after I stopped watching regularly. I just watched randomly when they were shown late night on tv, when I had nothing else to watch.

I watched up as far as SPD, and thought they were still pretty damn good for a kids show. Didn't like what little I saw of Mystic Force though, so only saw an episode or two every couple of weeks of that and everything following (never seen Jungle Fury or RPM).

I'd say the show will return to it's previous fun with the return to Saban, and I'm definitely going to check them out a bit more often.

I've started watching RPM again after MagicGamer said it wasn't that bad. I'm five episodes in and it's not bad! I kinda like it, especially that the episodes continue on into the following episode.

I just saw that. I have Cat on my Facebook and she mentioned it today. It was really something to see him get so candid--what a horrible experience he had. On the other hand, I think it's fantastic that he was able to overcome all that and become such a success in the industry. Makes sense now why he seemed to distance himself so much from the show. I didn't realize it had been that long. But I'd say in my opinion, it was Dino Thunder. The two seasons under Doug Sloan, Ann, Janine, and Koichi are the best of the Disney era. Most of the era under the next guy is weak, although SPD did have some cool moments and wasn't too bad of a show.

I liked Dino Thunder for the nostalgia, obviously, and because of how well they did the evil Ranger storyline. There was also the collect-a-zord aspect, but it wasn't as bad as it was in Wild Force or Ninja Storm (from what I can tell of Operation Overdrive, it was overkill). And the villains in DT were believable and had a good overtone of menace.

Ninja Storm would be a close second for me. I liked a lot of the new mythology they built up, and how they explained the powers and what have you.

For the record, those are:
Ninja Storm (was ok)
Dino Thunder (Japan version was better)
SPD (Japan version was WAY better)
Mystic Force (sucked ass. The original concept was that the team was a entire family with that knight guy ended up being the dad. MUCH better then what we got.)
Operation Overdrive (Both versions just sucked)
Jungle Fury (english version was shit.)
RPM (both versions sucked ass.)


My fav remade was Lightspeed Rescue and Time Force with Dino Thunder and Ninja Storm comming in third and forth. (even if the japan versions were better what we got wasn't bad.)

I'm a huge fan of Kamen Rider. That site I linked before fansubs all the Kaman riders shows out of japan so I get to watch each season. I'm also a Ultra Man and Garo fan.

Lord Zed was the best PR villain ever, but not the US version. The Japanese version was a sadistic madman while the US one was a running joke.

My Fav show was the in Space and Lightspeed Rescue. (holy Crap I can't believe I forgot about Lost Galaxy.)

But hearing the story about David finally have a breakdown and putting himself in a hospital leads me to believe that it could be a mixture of both. If a franchise is making millions and you are making a very small amount of that, I don't think I'd blame anyone for wanting a bigger piece of the pie.

She left a little after Kim, the last time she appeared was when they were turned to kids before the Alien Rangers mini, so even still, it's too big a gap of time.

Nope. Karen Ashley was long gone before David Yost. The next to go after Yost were Austin St. John, Steve Cardenas and the guy who played Ernie. But all of those were legitimate reasons to leave. St. John was already leaving after Zeo (Turbo movie, technically), Cardenas suffered a back injury and had to be replaced, and the actor who played Ernie I seem to remember hearing had health problems due to his weight.

So I talked to Tony Oliver today about the new season, and apparently, Power Rangers Samurai may not be the title. Tony saw it on IMDB and then put it on his website, and we all know that the IMDB title was fan made. He also claims that the Rangers don't even have names yet and are currently being labeled in the scripts and writing as 'Blue' 'Green' and so on.


I am surprised that there isn't a big announcement about this at PMC.

Well Tony Oliver held another hour long panel today where he showed off tons of old goodies from the older seasons. But during the last five minutes or so of the panel, things got sidetracked into a Q&A of the upcoming season. Here's some of what he said. Keep in mind though, a lot of questions were asked, many of which Tony replied "I can't say" or "I don't know" for very understandable reasons.

--The show is officially being adapted off Shinkenger in case it wasn't already blatantly obvious.
--The cast is set to start filming in 3 weeks and Tony is sure that almost everything will be leaked within 5 weeks due to blogs and media and such.
--The show will begin to air in February 2010 on Nickelodeon.
--About 10 scripts have already been finished.
--The season will stay within the continuum of Power Rangers.
--When asked if there will be any throwbacks to older seasons, Tony had said that they wanted to add some early on, but the idea's were scrapped. There may be some added later, but there will be no throwbacks within the first 20 episodes and those will be used to sell the show and get the plot going.
--The season will be retaining a lot from its Japanese counterpart.

And to add on, Tony never came out and said "Hey, some old Rangers are coming back!". Although he didn't deny it, he did say that there was some cool stuff going on with casting, but nothing more than that. I think that this question came out around the same time as the throwback question and some people got overly excited.

Obviously they mean Feb 2011.

It amazes me now how great it was with everything that happened (no budget, no idea what's going on, Sentai ideas forced upon them, etc).

The return of the Power Rangers to Saban Brands will mean an aggressive rollout onto multimedia platforms, a new Samurai theme and even a bit more "fun," according to Saban Brands prexy Elie Dekel.
"We're embracing the new digital media age," said Dekel of the planned apps, games and streaming content, adding that Ranger-related live entertainment and a feature film are on the horizon. Saban Brands also announced the Samurai theme for the upcoming season, premiering next year on Nickelodeon. While themes changed annually in years past, the Samurai theme will extend for two years.

"We always introduce new elements throughout the course of the season, including the occasional new ranger," said Dekel, adding that Saban will keep the five original rangers and other core elements of the nearly 20-year-old "Power Rangers" series.

"The DNA remains constant," Dekel added.

New announcements come on the heels of Saban's re-acquisition of the series from Disney in May ( Daily Variety , May 14). The Mouse House had purchased the series from Saban in 2001. The company will also bring back Jonathan Tzachor, who produced hundreds of episodes since the early nineties.

"Haim Saban and his team have created a property with incredible staying power, and we're excited to partner with them on this newest chapter of 'Power Rangers, ' " said Cyma Zarghami, president, Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family Group.

They've been talking about Nick having order 20 episodes, but the season being 40. Now, does this new info mean that now each season is 20 episodes and they'll be shown over 2 years? If so, that's really disappointing.

Wide range of consumer products planned, including toys and video games.

Further details have been revealed by Saban Brands for the 18th season of Power Rangers, with the series and all consumer products having a Samurai theme.

Saban is planning 40 episodes of Power Rangers Samurai, which will air on Nickelodeon and Nick Toons in North America in 2011. Saban is currently also in talks with UK and European broadcast partners.

The samurai theme will also be central to the accompanying line of consumer products.

"We believe Power Rangers can be more than it has recently, and we are producing more episodes and have brought back the original producer of the series," said Elie Dekel, president of Saban Brands. "The new series takes on a brighter tone and gets an infusion of fun and comedy that wasn't present in seasons 16 and 17.

"We are also building a new website which will be integrated with Nickelodeon. The site will launch with games and eventually add more immersive content, including an online world and social media elements.

"Handheld and console games for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo are also in development."

Yeah, that's the cool part, that the parts can combine with last year's zords. The dragon still sucks, though. Got the Japanese versions and like the dragon and emblem modes that they can go into.
