Description:

When Ted, Marshall, Lily and Barney crash a highfalutin party at a swanky New York apartment, Ted gets the chance to mingle with the snooty guests and show off his intellectual side.

I've loved him since the days of Games Magazine. Man I miss that book.

Games still comes out. It's a shadow of its former self, but it still comes out, and I'm still a subscriber.

Yeah, I seem to recall it being brought back again. I was given a lifetime comp. subscription to the original and was so sad when it ended.

As much as I enjoy the show, I've missed the latest episodes. Don't think I can pass this one up, sounds good.

The only time it wasn't in print was late '90, early '91.

All I remember was when it folded they transferred my subscription to some PC gaming magazine which was a piece of crap. Then that I think evolved into Electronic Entertainment magazine, which also eventually folded and transferred to something else like PC Gamer or something. I eventually moved and never updated my address and finally stopped getting magazines.

This might have been my favorite episode of the season. I was just complaining to my boss tonight that as much as I love this show it's a little weird these characters aren't growing up yet. This really addressed that.

Don't say I never gave you anything:

Gizmodo: Japan presents a wrestler vs a robot (http://gizmodo.com/5423850/worlds-first-robot-vs-human-pro-wrestling-match-ends-in-ko)

(I know, I know, it's not nearly as cool as the Ted-Doppleganger match. Best I could do.)

PS: Is it just me, or would it be cool if the final doppleganger turned out to be Hippie-Barney, like he was before he became Awesome?

I liked the theory I saw on another forum that Barney's doppleganger might be

Dr. Douglas Howser M.D.

and all the dopplegangers also hang out together.

You know, I really like HIMYM, but I do think it's been a down year for the show and this episode was part of the problem. Alan Sepinwall has a good article (http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-watching/posts/how-i-met-your-mother-robots-vs-wrestlers-get-it-on-bang-a-gong) on it today and I agree with him.

At some point (it may have even been late in the 1st season), I just accepted that Ted was a kind of a douchebag and moved on. I actually think it's a charming part of the show that all of the characters have obvious, relatable flaws (and only Barney's are particularly cartoonish).

On the other hand, the Marissa Heller thing did seem really lazy...unless there's a payoff coming down the road.

I'm thinking that that's not the same Marissa Heller that lived in the apartment before them.

She didn't recognise any of the topics from the mail they'd read. And that was all periodicals that might just have carried on after she moved out. A party invite to her ten year old address is a bit more odd. I'm inclined to think that was misdelivered to the apartment as someone had found a Marissa Heller who lived at that address in a phonebook or online.

Yeah, I was really expecting that to be the payoff from this episode.
