Is Universal's Next 'Fast And The Furious' Getting A Dwayne Johnson Infusion?
By MIKE FLEMING | Thursday May 6, 2010 @ 9:17pm
Is a match-up between action icons Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel in the works for the next installment of The Fast and the Furious? Sources tell me it’s not a done deal but that Johnson is eyeing a starring role in Fast & Furious 5. He's already is driving mode on the CBS Films revenge drama Faster, and here, it appears Johnson's character will be on the right side of the law. Fast & Furious 4 reinvigorated the franchise with a $155M domestic haul.

Meh, these movies have never interested me. But good for Johnson if he gets a part he'd like.

Fast & The Furious 4 was a really fun and good action movie. We need more movies like that.

Man, they really want to keep that franchise alive, don't they? I never saw the appeal of those movies? Do they make a lot of money?

If it keeps him from downspiraling into more shitty kids movies, sure, why not?

I thought the fourth movie was sooooooooo boooooooooooring. For a Fast and the Furious movie, there was a serious lack of decent car chases/races. I think there were like 3 exciting sequences and that was it. Hopefully Johnson will bring some of his charisma to it if nothing else.

I agree with the lack of cars/races comment and definitely think that it was the worst of the movies. The only thing that I really liked about the fourth movie was the way that it connected the third movie to the series through Han. I think that it went too far away from the driving and too much towards the characters who, to be honest, have never been all that interesting.
IMO these movies are a bit like car porn. They are all about the beautiful bodies being put through their paces (ie: cars & racing) and happen to have a bit of a storyline thrown in to get you from one racy scene to the next.
People like fast cars.Fast enough that they could fly away?

That sounds gayer than 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS. And I thought 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS was as homoerotic as you could make a movie without it actually devolving into gay porn.

I thought the 2nd and 3rd were the weakest. Especially the japanese one.
Samething can be said about superhero movies. All about people with tight costumes with a little bit of story thrown in to get you to the next tight costume scene.

I still wish there was a Shazam movie in the works with him playing Black Adam.
Or Rundown 2. I'd take a Rundown 2.
