Looks okay. You didn't really explain much of the premise in your pitch video though. Two girls with a secret in a town where not much happens. I would probably work on that pitch. You did mention LGBT and Teen pregnancy though, are they themes of the book?

Anyway, I'm broke, but if you need someone to letter I'm right here.

I'm actually starting up a project on Kickstarter next week. It's about a Nigerian Prince that needs money to be able to free his father from prison and re-establish himself as the ruler of his Nigerian country. He pays all the money back in the end with 800% interest.

I would like to invest in this project of yours. I suppose you'd first like me to pay you $30 as a processing fee before deciding whether to take my investment money, so I'll send that right over.

To answer an earlier question, yes, there are teen pregnancy and LGBT issues in the book. I'll be posting a complete synopsis and preview pages soon.

Here is a revised synopsis:

UNHAPPY WHITE GIRLS is about a day in the life of Tish and Branna, two teenage girls who live in Nowhere, New Mexico. From skipping school, to shoplifting at the mall, to a rich girl's party -- Tish and Branna will have their friendship tested. And over the course of this crazy day, secrets they are both hiding will be revealed.

As for donating money to groups, I'd rather give my time and speak from what I have seen personally and relate it back to the graphic novel. But it's something I'll take into consideration. That's a great point.

It's a little better, but you'd be better off telling us what is testing this friendship. That sort of plot has been seen hundreds of times, but if you give something specific, you'll stand out more.

Good point. It's a typical Hollywood logline that helps sell books to execs and editors, but since Kickstarter is targeting the reader, loglines might be insufficient.

New Mexico?

Hmmmm . . .

Tish has a Navajo boyfriend (Chad) and his sister Yolanda is PISSED because she thinks Tish is too stuck up plus she's white and Yolanda thinks Chad needs to stay on the reservation. So she does everything she can to shut down the relationship including stealing Chad's cell phone so Tish gets pissed one day because she thinks Chad is blowing her off because there's this party that like the whole school is going to and she wants to go and go with Chad (and she wants to go so bad she stole a dress at the mall to wear), so Tish skips school to go to his house and he's not there but Yolanda is, and Tish calls and she hears the phone and gets into it with Yolanda because now Tish knows Yolanda stole the phone and just thinks Yolanda is a bitch but Yolanda calls her sometime boyfriend Kai to go beat up Tish and he gets his homies and they are dumber than doorbells and don't want to beat up anybody so they decide to mess up Tish's car during the party. But they slash Branna's tires instead of Tish's because they get the girls confused because they think all white girls look alike. And the secret is Branna is a lesbian and Yolanda is sort of her girlfriend but not anymore because her car got jacked up because of Yolanda and now Branna's pissed.

Am I close?

We're in the last 48 hours and a third of the way to our goal. If you like indie comics we hope this book is for you!

***************

Unhappy White Girls is a graphic novel project making a difference, and addressing real-world issues -- or it can be, if the Kickstarter project gets the support it needs by the June 15 deadline. Launched by Christian Beranek, co-creator of Dracula vs. King Arthur, Unhappy White Girls is the story of Tish and Branna, two teenage girls coming to terms with their own secrets throughout the course of one turbulent day.

Beranek recruited illustrators Triska Tsang and Vivian Lee from Brooklyn, NY, to provide the art and bring the characters to life. "Triska and Vivian really understand how to convey emotion via the page," says Beranek. "From the slightest glance to frustration and tears, they capture the teenage condition."

But Unhappy White Girls isn't just another graphic novel -- it has a greater purpose to raise awareness about teen pregnancy and LGBT issues. If the project meets its $6,000 goal by June 15 via Kickstarter, a site that allows people to raise funds for creative endeavors, Beranek and his team will complete production on the novella, with all remaining funds and proceeds being used to promote awareness regarding these social concerns. Once the Unhappy White Girls Facebook page reaches 5,000 fans, Beranek will also donate $1,000 to St. Anne's, one of the most highly-regarded social services agencies in Los Angeles, providing targeted programs and support services in response to the ever-changing needs of today's society.

"The reason I am using Kickstarter is that Unhappy White Girls has been a passion project of mine for many years," says Beranek. "I started working on it in 2005 after I was at a convention in Detroit. I was at a diner and said to my friend who was sitting with me, 'Our waitress is one unhappy white girl.' Right there I knew I had a title and an idea sparked."

Helping out this long-time projects is not without perks, either. For backers that pledge through Kickstarter, Beranek and team offer a series of rewards, from behind-the-scenes artwork and development material to a private dinner with Beranek and a graphic novel seminar in your hometown.

What I was going to post was: "A. The Bendis Board is full of interesting yet developmentally challenged men/boys who love to downplay the efforts of independent artists due to the bereft of their own lack of efforts or achievements - or - B. The Bendis Board is the height of tastemakers who guide the course of pop culture entertainment for a new generation of hopeful stewards and artisans who will bring forth a new era of enlightenment and cultural improvement."

But really, I don't really think about you guys either way after I read your negative and/or snide comments. When I do read them I just feel a bit of sadness that you have such hate in your heart. I can't change that. You can only change the world in yourself after all. There's a beautiful sunset now over the mountains. I am going to have a beer and toast the way this board use to be: Active, alive, full of passion. Sure there were curmudgeons, but there were also great people. And you wonder why they all left.

But don't worry, I'm not going anywhere unless banned. So count on me to keep coming back. Like a rash, if you will. A sweet indie rash that will never go away. ;-)

What kind of stuff? I heard Disney bought another comic book company. Oh, and they licensed their other properties to two other comic book companies. Why would they do that when they have Kingdom Comics right there...

The whole point of Kingdom Comics is to mine the back catalogue and produce comics that will eventually be turned into films. It's a development deal. I'm a producer on whatever film is made from the material I'm attached to. We never meant to deal in licenses nor did we have the desire to. Marvel is Marvel. I have to think that our educating the company on how great comics are may have at least in some infinitesimal way sparked a bit of that. I could be wrong. But it's exciting that it happened nonetheless.

I create content. And loads of it. So yes, I have tons to pimp, my friend. But not all 9103 (9104 with this one) of my posts were (or will be) strictly pimpage.

I have made many great friends off of these boards. Lifetime friends, even. People I will talk to until my dying days.

So, if Unhappy White Girls bugs you so much just ignore it. What do you really care? And you fixate on this term "begging". People are getting a product out of this and supporting a small little book about two girls and a day in their life. I hardly see it as begging. I didn't make the goal last year so I came back to try it again. If it doesn't work this time out I'll find a way. Somehow, someway this project will see the light of day.

No amount of your nay-saying will stop that from happening.

I seriously do hope you find some amount of happiness in this world. It seems to me you like to hide behind your computer monitor and dish out snarky comments. Seems pretty empty to me.

On the other hand, I find that fact that you won't let all of your past failures stop you admirable.

I just backed your comic (of course, I don't believe you have any chance of making it to $2,000, so I don't have to worry about it).

But if you do, feel free to inscribe whatever insult you want in my copy. And I'll treasure it, enjoying the fact that someone out there is succeeding just to spite me.

Good luck with this, and all of your mysterious Kingdom Comics projects. Next time you see Ahmet, tell him I always preferred Dweezil.
