Need Some Help With A Quote, Or Article, About Writing Do's/Don'ts

I remember reading something by an author (I can't remember if it was comics, or prose) about why a writer shouldn't use, or should avoid using "later" and "meanwhile" to depict time lapse or scene jumps.

Anyone know about that?
