Those are all very good.
I loved House Of Flying Daggers and Hero, if you like the more artistic wire work films you should get those, they are beautiful. Crouching Tiger too of course.

Matrix.
I said good Kung Fu... not a trilogy with a great first installment and crappy overwritten sequels... :-D
thanks so much guys.... got most of these on my list now!
I did see Hero and loved it... I've got Flying Daggers on the top of my list..... can't wait to see it... liked Hero better than Crouching Tiger, actually....

That's why I only listed the first film, although the freeway scene in the second movie is astounding.

All-time Fist of Legend.
Bruce Lee, obviously.
If you want something that's the opposite of good, but entertaining in a train wreck sort of way, hook up Jackie Chan's Fantasy Mission Force. It starts out "Africa" with Chinese in blackface and gets more ridiculous by the minute. :D

Thats true...you didn't mention the last 2.... and that freeway scene was pretty neat.... :D

Wing Chun, starring Michelle Yeoh
Yes, Madam!, starring Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock
Righting Wrongs, starring Yuen Biao (Be sure to watch both the Mandarin and Cantonese versions--they have very different endings.)
Mr. Vampire, starring Lam Ching Ying (hopping vampires rock)
Millionaire's Express, starring Sammo Hung
Bride With White Hair, with Brigette Lynn
Butterfly & Sword, with Michelle Yeoh
Tiger On Beat, with Chow Yun-Fat & Conan Lee (shotgun fu and dueling chainsaws!)
for pure incoherent insanity go with these:
Kung Fu Cult Master, with Jet Li
Zu: Warriors From the Magic Mountain, starring practically everybody
Legend of Zu, also starring pretty much everyone
Swordman II, with Jet Li & Brigitte Lynn
Did anyone mention Drunken Master 2? (Aka, Legend of the Drunken Master here in the States) Along with Jet Li's Fist of Legend it's pretty much the best thing going.

what I'm finding interesting is how there are a ton of Jet Li movies being suggested to me, but here in the US his movies tend to be kinda shitty.... is it just the way they use him over here, or what?
Although that one with Morgan Freeman that just came out seems pretty interesting....

Jet Li has yet to be utilized properly in his Stateside films.
A large portion of his Hong Kong films are friggin' great. Once Upon A Time In China is another must-see series of his. Jet Li has screen presence in his HK stuff that just hasn't materialized in his newer films.

Everyone's mentioning Drunken Master II Legend of the Drunken Master.
Am I the only one that likes the original Drunken Master better than the sequel???? It's one of the greatest kung fu movies of all time.
I also reccomend Shaolin Wooden Men.
5 Deadly Venoms
Iron Monkey
Ong Bak
Kung Fu Hustle
and Kung Pow.

The original Drunken Master is good, but DM2 is much better. It's one of my favorite movies in any genre.
A lot of late-sixties, early seventies Shaw Brothers stuff is good. In particular, check out "Come Drink With Me," by King Hu, which is amazing on a Kurosawa level. He also directed "A Touch of Zen," "The Fate of Lee Khan," and "The Valiant Ones," to name a few, which are all even better than "Come Drink With Me."
Chang Cheh is another great director. He helmed the already mentioned Five Deadly Venoms and Crippled Avengers, but his earlier stuff was less schlocky. Try "Golden Swallow" or "The Invincible Fist."
Chor Yuen was the directorial swordplay master of the 70's. Check out "The Magic Blade" for a good example of what he does best.
Tsui Hark's "The Blade" is quite good. Also try "A Chinese Ghost Story" and "Dragon Inn," which he produced.
"Seven Grandmasters" and "The Mystery of Chessboxing" have some great kung fu, even if the plots are fairly conventional. Same with "Knockabout," starring Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung.
"Moon Warriors" is a really good movie, except for the killer whale.
"Ashes of Time" is one of the best art-films I've seen that revolves around kung fu.
"Duel to the Death" is great absurd fun. "The Duel" is less action-oriented, but it's pretty entertaining.
For 70's Shaw Brothers fun, try "Shaolin Challenges Ninja" and "Fists of the White Lotus."
Also, a lot of what other people have suggested is good (Iron Monkey, Crouching Tiger, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Master of the Flying Guillotine, Bride With White Hair, Buttery Sword, Swordsman II, Legend of Zu, Spooky Encounters, Mr. Vampire).
Anyway, that should get you started. Enjoy.
