Ok, so half of the HDTV experts are telling me to buy the expensive HDMI cables to get the best quality, and the other half are telling me that it's bull; I don't need expensive HDMI cables, and that the cheap ones ($15) will give the same quality.

Even this CNET article says that the cheapest HDMI cables are what they use and that the more expensive ones are ripoffs:

I'm so confused, what do I do? What do you guys recommend?

get the cheap ones. I have them for my PS3 and for my HD converter box and it looks just fine.

Yep cheap is the way to go. I have a HQ one at home and a cheapo at school. I cant see a difference.

Get the cheapest one possible. They are all the same since it's a digital signal. I bought 2 dollar cables from Monoprice back in 2007 and they haven't failed me yet, and my picture looks gorgeous.

Yeah I use the $15 ones and they work just fine.

I have even found some cheaper than that at a Dollar store. But I wouldn't advise going too cheap as the connectors on the ends of the really cheap ones tend to be shoddily made.

Got one off Monoprice for four bucks.

Works like a charm.

It's a digital signal. There is no benefit to spending 4x the price on fancy cables.

cheap

Cheap. Even if there was actually some benefit to using the more expensive ones, it wouldn't be equivalent to the exponentially higher price tag (law of diminishing returns and what not).

Buy the most expensive ones you can find. Sell a kidney if you need to.

all of my HDMI cables come from monoprice.com and they work great and are way cheaper then 15 bucks

This breaks down the HDMI ripoff quite nicely

I work for Sky TV technical help in the UK. When customers ask about Sky HD, I always advise them to get the cheap ones. The engineers who install the Sky dish and box also use the cheap cables.

Anyone telling you to buy a more expensive cable is either an idiot or making money from you buying said expensive cable.

Go to monoprice and order a cable.

Do those HDTV "experts" happen to work for Monster? It's ridiculous the prices they charge. My brother has Monster cables for some reason and I borrowed one from him while I was waiting for my $2 one from Amazon to arrive. There is literally no difference between them (except that the Monster cable probably cost 50 times more)

What did I find once, 15 or 25 cent HDMI cables on Amazon.

I prefer their sister company "Evil Bastard".

They sell some nice AA batteries for only 699$ a pack.
