Was just checking out information on the cape's "Jawsfest".

They wanted to have a jawsfest in 2010 (in the fall), and contacted Universal Studios about it...according to one of the people, this was the response:

aws Celebration Rescheduled for 2011

This past week, JAWS© celebration event promoter Susan Sigel Goldsmith received the official response from Universal Studios to her request for permission to develop and promote ‘Jaws35 : The Tribute’ in fall of 2010. The request was denied for that time period. Universal indicated ...this denial was due to a new release for JAWS currently being scheduled in 2011. Sigel Goldsmith indicated it seems likely that permission would be granted for celebration timed with the new release in 2011, thereby creating an anticipated delay of roughly 6 months.

I would be all over that.

Sounds bitchin' if it's just the actual movie, but why do I get the feeling it's gonna be the second time Jaws has been in 3D?

I'd buy a ticket just to hear that theme song through modern cinema speakers.

This is my favorite movie of all time. If they so much as touch that shark with CGI I'll burn that fucking studio to the ground.

Yeah, as long as they don't alter it in anyway this will be amazing. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and to see it in a theater would be a blast.

Back to the Future? You didn't know that Jaws 3 was a 3-D release?

I actually saw it at the theater as a kid.

When the shark explodes, 3-D guts fly at the viewer.

So it's got that goin' for it.

Ok, I thought this was a remake. I was about to get really pissed.

I saw this a year or so ago on the big screen, and even though I've watched it countless times, it is easy to see how the theater experience scared the shit out of people. I almost wet myself a number of times.

Why don't they just come out with the MEG movies already instead of remaking one of the greatest movies of all time. I swear I could make it as a movie exec...."so guys here's my big idea, we're going to remake Jaws. What do think? I took me all night to come up with that."

Fuck I wish I could read. My emotions took over.

My parents saw Jaws in Maui on their honeymoon. Just lets say the snorkeling was a little less enjoyable.

I've never seen it or Jaws 4.

I was so scarred by 3 that I never saw 4. I hear the shark roars in it.

But really I think we all know: there is only one JAWS and Spielberg is his prophet.

Well... not so much "hunting" as "occasionally showing up around"... :)

For all its flaws, Jaws 3(D) (which I saw in the theater) has moments so bad, that it is fun to watch with groups of people and laugh at how amazingly bad/good it is/isn't.

Jaws 4 was so bad. I have forever hated Mario Van Peebles in everything he has ever done, simply because he was in this movie. The fact that the shark followed Mrs. Brody (who was cute and sexy in the first one, but looked like UG-MUMP-ALAGE in this film with her horrible hair) all the way down to the Caribbean and tried to eat ONLY THE BRODY'S (Brodies?) was silly.

Michael Caine was creepy, and uninteresting, and yet so amazingly...something...in this movie that to watch him try to pursue Mrs. Brody before the shark can eat her is something to see.

and Lou Gossett Jr. in Jaws 3 is awesome. Every moment is bad. Even Lea Thompson. It was a bad idea whose time not only hasn't come, but never should have.

But, I think Jaws 2 is the worst of the bunch. For real!

Just the other day, I was thinking how much I would love to see this movie in the theaters. I always seem to miss screenings at theaters specializing in revivals.

Neat!

Why aren't they waiting until 2015 to do this? At least if that was the plan I could hope I'd be able to get to the theater in my hovercar.

I like that Jaws 4 is a retcon, and 3 didn't happen. In a franchise where nothing is worth seeing except the first movie, and no one actually cares, they managed to bring convoluted continuity into it.

I also like that a toy shark explodes 4 times for no obvious reason at the end. :)
