Ritchie is one of my favorite directors, but what really has me excited is Hodge. That man is God to me, one of my biggest influences as a writer.

Interesting. Is he gonna play it straight, I wonder, ala Excalibur, or go progressive/experimental ala Knight's Tale?

I liked both.

Have you read AA Attanasio's Arthur books (beginning with The Dragon and the Unicorn)? It's been years, but I really enjoyed those.

Well this is my first post, just joined! My feeling is, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Excalibur still holds up IMHO. This remake phase is annoying. Nightmare on Elm Street (supposed to be crap from what I hear) and Clash of the Titans. Gimme a break! Lets have some original ideas please!

But this is not a remake of anything. It's just a new cinematic version of the Arthur legend, which isn't even a story, but more of a literary tradition. There's a lot of different ways they could go with this, many of which are not as well represented in film as they have been in novels (everyone and their mother has a version of the mythos these days).

It should probably be noted that EXCALIBUR is far from being the first time that the Arthurian legend was adapted for the screen.

I'd rather see him doing another British gangster movie after Sherlock Holmes 2.

head on over to IMDB and look up king arthur movies. there are many more than excalibur. and excalibur is so horribly historically innacurate it isnt even funny. sure it is a col little adventure flick but way wrong to the story.

So this won't be the Warren Ellis Arthur script. Unless Hodge is re-writing the Ellis script.

And what ever happened to the Knights of the Roundtable in modern times script that BKV wrote? I haven't heard about that in a long time.

I haven't seen Excalibur since I was a kid. Was Excalibur the movie where some guy finds the sword in modern times and then they flashback to Arthur picking up the sword and subsequent adventures with a Merlin who's wearing a skull-cap?

the more successful he is with the Sherlock Holmes franchise and this King Arthur mamma jamma, the more likely I'd imagine that we'll see him do the two RockNRolla sequels that were in question of ever being made.

It's possible I'm mixing it up with a dream I had.

That would be awesome. I didn't like RocknRolla as much as i loved Lock, Stock... and Snatch but there's lots of potential for these characters.

In it did Arthur's retainer carry coconuts and a policecar show up at the end, if so I think I know where you got confused

It's funny because Excalibur is the name of a gay bar near where I went to college.
