Yeah, I know there's an iPhone App thread, but good luck trying to trawl through it to find apps that females might enjoy.
She's not a gamer, so there's the caveat.

Without knowing what kind of woman she is, it's hard to recommend. Here are some of the non-gaming apps I currently have installed:

Barnes & Noble eReader
AP Moibile
USA Today
ESPN Scorecenter
Facebook
Tweetie
Gorillacam
Epicurious
Convert
Shazam
Pandora
Alarm Clock

I love my Kindle app - you can download and read all of the Amazon Kindle books.

My Mom downloaded Doodlejump so I gave it a whirl on mine. Holy fuck, it's addictive.

There is an app for reading PDFs.

If she's into movies and/or entertainment news, there's an E news app, a Fandango app, and an IMDb app.

MusicID is faster and way more accurate than Shazam, and Slacker Radio has a comedy channel(explicit and non explicit). I'm not sure if Pandora has a comedy channel now though.

When you say games, does that include puzzles? Ala crosswords, etc?

Meaning, traditional games or games in general?

Fuck that game. FUCK IT SO HARD!

You're right. Totally addictive.

I've been playing a lot of Words With Friends lately. It's a little laggy and buggy occasionally, but I love me some not-Scrabble.

I use Facebook a lot and Tweetie 2.0 is my Twitter client of choice.

Instapaper is great for clipping articles from the web for later reading.

Ninjacam is good for taking sneaky pictures of people being idiots on public transportation... Hypothetically speaking.

This post right here made me download three or four new apps. I had to shuffle around my screens to make room for the new icons. Bastard.

She hasn't the time for much free time and needs as much sleep as she can get what with 2 difficult kids at night
