Fellow Austinites, you okay?

(CNN) -- A small airplane crashed into a building in Austin, Texas, Thursday morning, according to Lynn Lundsford of the Federal Aviation Administration.

Firefighters used two ladder trucks and other equipment to hose down the blaze at the building, which police said was located in the 9400 block of Research Boulevard.

Officials said they did not know the cause for the crash.

"At this time we have no reason to believe there is a nexus to criminal or terrorist activity," said Matt Chandler, spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security. "We are in the process of coordinating with state officials and other federal partners to gather more information and at this time we will defer additional questions to local officials and the FAA."

Plane hits: 'Whoosh, a roar and a boom'
EMS officials responding to reports at 10 a.m.

A small plane crashed into a business tower that houses some federal offices in Austin on Thursday morning, engulfing the entire front half of the seven-story building in flames.

The plane, a Cherokee 140, hit the Echelon Building on Mopac and U.S. 183 around 10 a.m.

Witnesses at the scene say that a single engine plane that appeared to be a Cherokee 140 did not appear to be having any trouble, but hit the building at an angle. No smoke or any sign of trouble was visible.

Said one witness, a former pilot: "It was a really speedy dive. It (hit) between the first and second floors in Echelon III. A gigantic fireballl came out about 50 feet wide, the windows blew out. It was a whoosh, a roar and a boom."

Emergency crews are on the scene, and two people are still unaccounted for, fire officials say. The IRS and the CIA all have offices in that office complex, witnesses say.

The collision shook the entire buildling, and the entire front of the structure is gone and on fire, according to emails being reported from inside the building. Several witnesses are reporting they first thought it was a bomb.

Emergency crews are doing a roll call on the scene to account for people in the building.

There are four separate fires burning in the building. Some 50 to 100 people are outside watching, and the entire building from the second to fourth floor is on fire.

FBI officials officed in a next-door building began immediately interviewing witnesses.

Motorists are being diverted off 183.

They were saying on the radio that one person is missing and two people were taken to the hospital. No known fatalities.

Amazing considering there were more than 200 people in the building and the extent of the damage. Luckily the plane struck an empty breakroom.

I imagine stealing a small two seater, 1 prop engine plane from a small local air strip that odds are he had access to many times since he was licensed to fly that kind of plane (according to reports) isn't really that big/hard of a thing to do.

Wow.

It's a real shame to lose that building. I used to work in the square mirrored building next to it about 3 years ago, always thought that was well designed area.

Yeah, it was a crazy sight to see, especially not really knowing what to expect and then coming over the 183/MoPac overpass and seeing all of the people, police cars, fire trucks, media, etc. and the smoking, blown out building. Just a crazy situation.

I'm so glad that almost everyone was able to get out safely. I'm still holding out hope that the last one unaccounted for is going to be found ok...people are found days after horrible events like earthquakes, so there's a chance however slim until word comes out otherwise.

It was such a nice area when I drove to work this morning...

Eh whatever. :)

I was watching a news conference with the Austin mayor talking about how outrageous it was that after 9/11 people could still perform acts like flying planes into buildings.

I'm not sure what exactly could be done to stop this besides prohibiting people from owning and flying private planes.

What exactly could be done to stop something like this?

It is getting really sad how everytime something like this happens, people are falling all over themselves to figure out which side of the political football the perpetrator was on.

If you are crashing planes into buildings, you are somewhere past the standard Obama vs. Fox News bullshit.

Each side is looking at how to use this for the political gain. Election year ya know!

Ridiculous.

Oh I love the fact the minute CNN said the letter contained hate against the Catholic Church for their tax breaks he was a "religious extremist".

Wonder if they'd say that if he ranted against a temple?

Most anarcho-syndicalists in the media are crazy, example:

And Noam Chomsky?

This guy had a really specific axe to grind (IRS section 1706), and I can't really find any group out there complaining about it.

Also, if you have enough money to own a plane, I'm not really convinced that the IRS is destroying your ability to make a living.

Well, Mr. Big Brother IRS man, let’s try something different; take my pound of flesh and sleep well.

In any case, it is better to wait until there is as much information available as possible, rather than jumping to an early conclusion.

On the comments to one of the statuses someone posted this:

Our country needs a revolution, voting for a Democrat or a Republican is not revolutionary, it is big business as usual.

Neither party represents the average hard working American.

THE DNC = appear on the surface to represent socialist, welfare recipients, illegal alien loving, multiculturalists and those who look to the government for free cheese. But if you follow the money and their votes, they are whores for big business and Wall Street just as much as the Republicans. AND THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE!... See More

THE GOP = appear to be patriotic, flag waving, constitution loving Americans, but if you follow the money they are New World Order loving, oligarch supporting, pro Wall Street, Pro Communist China, pro illegal immigration, pro outsourcing American jobs, pro shipping our manufacturing base overseas and just all around lying sacks of manure. AND THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE!

America needs a populist third party alternative to break up the corporate globalist controlled oligarchy we now have.

A third party would not need to vote out every RINO or Democrat. We only need to take 10% of the House seats, this is very doable in conservative states. With 10% of congress we could control the agenda in Washington. Eventually, as the party proved itself and grew, we could take the Whitehouse.

www.thirdpartypatriots.org

Third Party Patriots mission statement is:

The purpose of this site is to allow supporters of the Tea Party movement a forum to network, share information and discuss the evolution of the Tea Party into a legitimate third party.

We believe that if the movement does not evolve into a third party, nothing will change in Washington. We believe that America needs a revolution, well voting for a Democrat or a Republican is not revolutionary - it is Big Business as usual.

This is no frills site, unlike other major Tea Party sites we are not supported by GOP PAC's, GOP strategists, wealthy lawyers or by making a profit off of the movement. We will strive to improve the site and grow as time and money allow. If you would like to become involved, write articles or help administer the site, please feel free to contact me.

We believe that neither party represents the average hard working American. Neither party puts America first. Both parties spend millions of dollars a year trying to convey an image to their members that they are either flag waving patriots or that they care about your needs; well this illusion could not be further from the truth. The two major parties are only interested in selling you an image to gain your vote. Once you have bought into their image and cast your vote, they will substitute their hidden agendas, be it big government or their willingness to send your job overseas. Think about this, how many politicians that you know of, have gone back on campaign promises? What makes anything different now? Why should we all of a sudden take the GOP's word that "they hear us loud and clear?" I believe that once the Republicans are returned to power, we will be right back to where we started, with a government that will not listen to the voices of average Americans.

Sigh. Idiots.

I should point out that socialists/marxist are also claiming him on facebook. For example, someone said this "'From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.' That's the GOP Platform in a sentence."

Person 1- ROTFL! the Left will be surely trying to railroad this guy as a nut!!!! we must stop it b4 it starts!!!
Person 2- The left have no nuts! The right will have to do the dirty work it looks like.
Person 1- this guy is a Hero. balls of steel. i Vote Stack and (the guy that killed the abortion doc.) for Pres 2012!!!!!!!

It's not hard for the left to paint people on the right as nuts when they unironically say nutty stuff like this. According to Facebook, Person 1 is also a member of Clear Lake Tea Party TX.

As I pointed out before, crazy leftists are claiming him too. My main point is that people put a lot of stupid shit on the internet and when you do it on facebook, it's not even anonymous. Man, people are crazy.
