Question on the Kubert sketches. You buy the raffle tickets then if your number gets drawn, you make the donation for the $200. Just wanted to make sure I was reading that right.

Sorry for the delayed response...yes you got it right. Adam will draw any character you want. Buy as many raffle tickets as you want, you can win more then once, all the money (tickets and cost of the sketches) will all go to charity.
Oh and Registration is now open as is link to the Hotel that is giving us special rates for the show and running a shuttle to and from the show all day both days.

No, I think making a little fun of an obvious drawing error falls under acting like a dick.
He'd have been a douche if he made fun of the artists who made the error.

Nah... it's kind of in douche territory. Not so much in the making fun of the error, so much as making fun of someone's commission.
Nothing wrong with saying the new Honda Accord's headlights look ugly, but only a douche takes one look at your new Accord and the only thing they say, completely unsolicited, is, "The headlights look ugly."

We're proud to announce that Top Cow will be sending their publisher Philip Sablik out to our show to review portfolios and talk with the fans about all that Top Cow has going on.
We had 2 success stories last year when Dark Horse came out, one gentleman, Brian Koschak (who posts here), was given 3 issues of a Star Wars comic to draw and has since been given MORE issues by Dark Horse.
Brian got the job because he is incredibly talented and he followed Dark Horse's submission guidelines to a T. All we did was get him the exposure to the right people (but that's enough for us to make us toot our own horn and to be proud of Brian's success).
So artists get your portfolios ready. And have some extra copies ready to give to Avatar Press (they won't be reviewing at the show, but WILL be accepting submissions).

Hey everyone. We have an update on the guests for Project: ComicCon 2!!! First the bad news. Unfortunately due to personal commitments, David LaFuente will not be able to attend. However, we have 2 very exciting additions. We are thrilled to announce that the legendary Howard Chaykin has agreed to appear both days. Howard is very enthusiastic about returning to St. Louis and we look forward to him coming. Second, Greg Horn will attend as well. Greg is known for his extraordinary painting abilities but he's pretty good with a pencil as well. And we may not be done yet so make sure you visit our website for additional updates. We feel that with the addition of CGC and with Mound City Auctions holding their next auction within our convention it will definitely be a show to not miss!!!

We are happy to announce that Project: ComicCon 2 in conjunction with Peter Coogan of the Institute for Comics Studies will be conducting several panels on Saturday. These panels will take place in Room 4 . The schedule is as follows:
10:00-11:00: Heroes Ain’t Superheroes: Patrolling the Borders of the Superhero Genre - Spend 60 minutes with Peter Coogan of the Institute for Comics Studies as he discusses why the NBC show Heroes, despite appearances to the contrary, is not a superhero show and how it fundamentally misses the essence of the superhero genre. Arguments welcome!
11:15-12:30: Focus on Fred VanLente and Joshua Dysart - David Olsen of Saint Louis University moderates 75 minutes with two of the top writers in comics today.
1:00-2:15: Focus on Howard Chaykin - Alex Boney of the University of Central Missouri moderates a 75 minute focus on the work of this comic book legend. After an overview of his amazing career, Mr. Chaykin will then answer any questions you might have on his past, present and future projects.
2:45-3:45: Sequential Art and Storytelling - Sequential Art and Storytelling - Daniel F. Yezbick of St. Louis Community College – Forest Park explores George Carlson’s surreal mixture of visual and rhetorical puns in his comics, puzzles, and games. Kristy Boney of University of Central Missouri discusses the fine lines between the sensational, the vulgar, and the true in comics that represent painful cultural and historical memories like the Holocaust.
4:00-5:00: Comics and Literature - Pam Garvey of St. Louis Community College – Meramec suggests how the superhero can be a salient figure in contemporary poetry. Anita Hagerman of Washington University examines the use of Shakespeare and his plays in comics, and how the presence of the Bard both interrogates and reinforces the idea of the literary canon.
Seating for all of the above events will be extremely limited so if you would like to attend one or all of them, there are two ways to sign up. To register online simply send an email to jay.schimel@epicconventions.com with your name and the panels you would like to attend. If there are seats remaining the day of the show we will post sign up sheets outside room 4 when the convention opens at 9am on Saturday. So make sure you either email or get there early and sign up if you would like to attend!
*Please note that times are subject to change.

We are happy to announce the Sunday schedule also to be held in room 4. As with the Saturday panels, you may sign up in one of two ways. First off, send an email to jay.schimel@epicconventions.com. If any seats remain the day of the show then a sign up sheet will be posted outside the room. The schedule for Sunday is as follows:
1:00-2:15: After the Pencils: The Art of Inking with Ande Parks - Ande Parks conducts a workshop for all of you aspiring inkers. This 75 minute workshop will feature Ande providing direct access to his knowledge and skills from his many years in the comic book industry. He will provide high quality blueline prints to be inked at the workshop. They will be inked live with Ande moving around the room giving pointers. Those of you interested in attending will need to bring your own inking supplies. Ande has recommended the following supplies for the workshop:
1 Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen, Black, Fine Nib Pen
1 Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pen, Black, Brush Nib
Because this workshop will be so hands-on it will be limited to only 20 participants.
We also ask that because this is a hands on workshop that only those with a true interest in developing their own artistic skills or have an interest in a profession in the field of comic book art ask to attend.
2:45-3:45: Focus on Dennis Calero - Spend 60 minutes with the artist of Doctor Solar, X-Men Noir, X-Factor, Supergirl & the Legion of Super Heroes and scores of variant covers as he discusses his new web comic Devil Inside and answers your questions.
