Why do people get upset about not seeing the mother? When she shows up the show is on it's way out. It'll be almost over. And I love this show and hope the mother stays away for quite some time.

Tonight's episode was awesome.

Why will it be on it's way out? Ted is, at best, 1/5th of this show. Just because it's called "How I Met Your Mother" doesn't mean the show revolves around him at this point. Right now, his story is the least interesting...moving that along, or dropping it for a while and doing something else with him is getting close to necessary.

If they cast the girlfriend/future wife well, they've just added a new dynamic to the show, moved Ted into an actual storyline (yeah, he's got the teaching thing, but it so far seems to be more of a setup to getting him to meet the girlfriend/wife), etc.

I agree, they could do a whole lot with the show by casting his gf/future wife well and progressively integrateing her into the group

Because it's been 100 episodes of teasing and twists and what not. Which was fine for awhile but at this point it's starting to get old. I would rather not watch another 10 episodes of Ted just missing the roommate.

Also, because pretty soon he'll be one of those creepy old dudes pretending to be young & hip. Like the cast of Friends was for the last few seasons. Let's get him married before the wife is either of what doctors call "advanced maternal age" or way too young for Ted.

She hasn't lost all the baby weight. Same with Hanigan. Both just had kids. That's why they wear a lot of loose fitting clothes now or are sitting down or whatever.

Cute episode on the whole. Gotta hand it to NPH.
Liked The Unicorns shout out, even if it was a few years too late.
I think they should have went ahead and introduced the mother. The bait and switch brought the episode down for me.

Sheldon got the GL oath wrong.

"In brightest day, in Darkest night.."

Darkest night?

The entire DCU is currently in the middle of Blackest night FFS.

Thats just poor.

I think it'd be a huge mistake to introduce the mother anywhere short of the final episode.

I don't. My enjoyment of the show doesn't come from Ted's dating/single life. I'm ready for them to introduce the mom as a main character and part of the gang.

I think it would be a huge letdown if they waited until the very last episode to introduce the mother. After all this time talking about her, I'd like to get at least a season's worth of episodes where she's actually featured as a character.

Well the way it was going for awhile it would have been okay to have the final episode end with "And that's how I met your mother." But, at this point they need to get on with it and cast her and put her on the show regularly.

The only problem with introducing her before it ends is risking the audience not liking her. I really hope they work their magic and pull a Robin / Ted sense of romance there.

I have no doubt they can do it. They did such a good job the first go around that they had to put in overtime to make us not want to see Ted and Robin together anymore. And let's be honest, there are still plenty of us who still love Ted and Robin. I have faith that they'll be able to get us to like whoever they cast as the mother.

I don't think it's nearly sufficient to introduce the mother in the final episode, and I don't just say this as a fan who would be pissed at not getting to learn much about her. We've seen Lily's "front porch" principle; with respect to the in-show progression, it's just not reasonable for them to introduce the mother and let us all assume she works her way into the group with no problems.

I could see them putting off the reveal until the finale of this season (that's 10 more episodes, I think) and then giving us the sixth season with the mother as a main character. And by "I could see," I mean "I want."

I'd like for Ted to meet her for a second or two just as she's headed to europe for a year. Then next season they can have her come back for the last few episodes so we & he can get to know her.

The End.

At the upfronts this week the creators said they have plans for both a finale reveal and for giving her time as a regular cast member, depending on how things go with the network. I agree it's getting a bit frustrating

What I think would be good is that Ted meets the woman and we're led to think that she's not going to be his future wife, making no mention of the roommate thing or the umbrella until the final episode (Ie integrate her into the cast with the question still being up in the air of if she is or isn't), and the final scene is of Ted asking her to marry him and Bob Saget says, "And That's How I Met Your Mother."
