help me buy a Nintendo DS

opinions on a nintendo ds system? i'm looking for gameplay not so much the other tech uses. is DS Lite the way to go? does the most recent version's (DSi) improvements improve gameplay? should i wait until the 2010 model comes out? thanks in advance.

DS Lite is the last model which was able to make use of the Game Boy Advanced cartridges.

Yeah, I think that the DS Lite will be your best bet. If you don't care about the DSiWare stuff or the camera, and want to retain the GBA functionality so you can play stuff like the Mario Advance games. Plus, it's cheaper.

Get a normal DS! Mine's still fine, and feels a lot sturdier than those dinky DS lites.

A couple peripherals go into the DSlite's GBA slot, so you lose that functionality with the DSi. But it's not nearly a big deal as losing backwards compatibility with the GBA.

However, the DSi has improved hardware specs. In the future, games that push the limits of those specs may not work on the DSlite. Then again it may not happen; the PSP phat has lower specs than later PSP models but it still holds up.

Get the DS Lite. There are several good Gameboy Advance games, especially if you like RPGs. The two Fire Emblem games alone make it worth getting a DS that can play GBA titles.

Personally speaking, I love my DS (Lite) and found no real reason to upgrade to the DSi. I appreciate and used the GBA capability to play the Metroid games from that "era" on a semi-regular basis.
